I love this so much… I want one of these.
I love this so much… I want one of these.
To have another Gun Maker coming out with a 1911, isn’t surprising. But for Ruger to jump into this crowded pool actually makes sense. Much like S&W before they entered the game, Ruger has been making 1911 parts for a long time.
The “SR”1911… because Ruger can’t say 1911… actually looks pretty good. I like the fact that the slide is Forged, even if the frame is cast. Ruger’s casting is the best in the industry. I’ll give them points for not putting on forward slide serrations. I’ll even go so far as to give them props for not making the slide a huge freaking billboard. The simple Double Diamond checkered grips also look good, with a simple Colt style medallion inset into the wood. As much as I’ve been hating on Ruger… I have to give them a nod here. Well done, Ruger. Well done.
Now if you would just change your Distributor Only business model so dealers could actually make a buck stocking your guns – yeah… that would be great. Because as it is now, I hope I don’t have to sell one, because I’d make more money selling anything else. Ruger and Glock… there’s no money in selling the things. So am just not excited about these things.
You gotta love Max Brooks for his canonizing so much important information about surviving a zombie uprising.
Unfortunately he is wrong on several things. Continue reading The perfect zombie gun.
I’m working on my review of the NAA Ranger and I have positive things to say about it. Unfortunately the NAA has discontinued it. They did a limited run of the things, then canned it. Continue reading I am at a loss for words
Crusader’s Templar is the best AR-15 on the planet. Period. Bar None.
I don’t have much gasoline in the truck, and I’m so broke I can’t afford to pay attention. But I have ammo and Ballistic Testing Zone One is practically out the back door of Ogre Ranch. So we did a little bit of shooting while the kids were doing school work.

The Sterling was once again… impressive. The gun was flawless, but one of the magazines was under-sprung and caused two malfunctions when loaded to capacity. Continue reading Commander, Sterling, and a P-11.
The only Assault going on here is the assault on Lawful Gun Owners. The Brady Campaign needs to remember that Gun Owners tend to be Voters and are politically aware.
Let’s also note that there is no such thing as “Assault Clips”. So anytime you hear anyone say that… Correct them. There is no such thing for one, for the other – it’s a magazine not a clip. Then remind them that the Assault Weapons Ban did NOTHING to curb crime when Clinton did it. And when the ban sunsetted and went away – Violence and Crime didn’t go up.
The other thing that’s offensive is the blocking of firearm related websites. MadOgre.com is often blocked because of weapons related posts. What’s offensive is that in a lot of these places that block gun sites – they don’t block pornography. Porn is OKAY, but Guns are a No-No. THAT is highly offensive. So much so, that there should be a Class Action Lawsuit. Firearms are protected by the Constitution, perfectly legal… yet some how more seedy than porn? Which would you rather have your employees looking at while at work? Information about a gun or gun safety, or barely legal teen lesbians? Come on.
Two more Crusaders are on the way to what are going to be two of the happiest rifle buyers on the planet. Joe finished up a base gun and a full tilt Templar rifle.
MAN, those are good looking guns! That Templar is just incredible.
I’ll update this post with a photo tomorrow. We got in a couple AK-47’s from ATI, the guys that have the really nice 1911’s. These AK’s are built on machined lowers, not stamped sheet metal. They are very solid and well made. The stocks look really good too. 549 for a milled AK, isn’t bad at all. If I had the money, I’d be all over these.
Take a good hard and close look at the 2011 Remington Catalog. On page 66 there is a blurb for the 450 Bushmaster Premier Accutip load. This blurb makes the claim that the Accutip provides “supreme accuracy” while delivering “A big dose of aerodynamics“. They go on to claim that Accutip “delivers delivers exceptional flight characteristics for ultimate downrange precision and sustained energy.”
Oh really? Hmmm… That’s interesting. Let’s take a look at the ballistic tables on page 107. Continue reading Calling Shennanigans on Remington
