Magna Impressions

The VF750C Magna is a great machine.  I’ve missed that V-4 engine since I sold my last Magna.  The other bikes I had after it just didn’t quite have the same mojo.  And by mojo, I mean power band.  It’s wide power band lets the bike pull in every gear without working it.  It’s not anxious, there’s nothing frantic about it.  It’s comfortable cruising in town, and blasting down the highway.  I do wish it had one more gear on the tall end, but it’s no big deal because the RPM’s go quite high.

Filled up the tank, 9 bucks.  Vehicle Inspection, 9 bucks.  Insurance, 17 bucks.

This kind a cheap to live with cost is awesome.  Tax on the bike to get the new plates was 150 bucks, but I expected that.   I’m completely and utter broke now, but everything’s golden and I have a full tank that’s going to get me to work for a week.  My truck, to fill up the gas tank for a week, almost a hundred bucks.

To ride… through the twists, along the straights… relaxed… chillin in the saddle… Guys… Guys… Guys… Why the hell did I wait so long to get another bike?

I still need to get some decent leathers, a brain bucket, and good gloves before I do any long range riding.   I am going to be eating PBJ’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the next two weeks.  Worth it.  And with reports of gas going up to 6 bucks a gallon – I am very glad I got this bike now.  The news reports recently mentioned that with gas prices going up, more and more people are getting motorcycles and scooters.  So if you guys want a good used bike – get one now before they are all gone.

Okay, this is the last post about me gushing about bikes for awhile.  This isn’t a bike blog… It’s a gun blog.  Gun Content will resume shortly.

Ruger’s 1911, the rumors are true.

To have another Gun Maker coming out with a 1911, isn’t surprising.  But for Ruger to jump into this crowded pool actually makes sense.  Much like S&W before they entered the game, Ruger has been making 1911 parts for a long time.

The “SR”1911… because Ruger can’t say 1911… actually looks pretty good. I like the fact that the slide is Forged, even if the frame is cast.  Ruger’s casting is the best in the industry. I’ll give them points for not putting on forward slide serrations.  I’ll even go so far as to give them props for not making the slide a huge freaking billboard.     The simple Double Diamond checkered grips also look good, with a simple Colt style medallion inset into the wood.  As much as I’ve been hating on Ruger… I have to give them a nod here.  Well done, Ruger.  Well done.

Now if you would just change your Distributor Only business model so dealers could actually make a buck stocking your guns – yeah… that would be great.  Because as it is now, I hope I don’t have to sell one, because I’d make more money selling anything else.  Ruger and Glock… there’s no money in selling the things.  So am just not excited about these things.

Sarah Palin

Let me tell you, I like Sarah Palin.  She’s a bit polarizing… of course that like saying that Cayenne Pepper is a bit hot.  But that’s one of the reasons I like her.  She flat out scares the Liberal Left.  She embodies everything the Liberals tend to hate on.  She gets Conservatives fired up, brings in the crowds, and brings in the funds. She is a serious political force to be reckoned with.  This is why there has been a concerted effort since the beginning to ruin her.   Much like Rush Limbaugh, “it’s cool” to dislike Sarah Palin.  To dislike Sarah Palin is to take the more politically aware higher ground.  As if there is a superiority factor to dislike her, and the Tea Party… just like using a Mac at a Starbucks.  Continue reading Sarah Palin

She’s just a girl

One of the things that I find irritating is that when a guy who doesn’t know a whole bunch about guns wants to buy his wife or girlfriend a gun… it’s always in tiny calibers.  The mentality is that “She’s just a girl.”

A rifle will be a .243 and a pistol will be .380 or a 9mm or even smaller.  Come on guys.  Get real.  A woman, especially a red blooded American woman, can handle any gun that she wants to handle.

My wife can shoot the hell out of her 12 gauge pump, and a .45 1911.  My little Sis-In-Law rocked out with my AK and my 7mm Rem Mag, and she’s all hair and eyelashes.   Are these women special or other wise incredible?  Well, yes, they are amazing gals… but they are not Xena Clones or anything… but the reason they can handle these guns is that they want to.  Give them more credit.  Taken them shooting more often.  Managing bigger guns is all about Will and a little experience to show them that they can.  Work them up to a bigger gun, but don’t buy them something puny because “she’s just a girl.”

Commander, Sterling, and a P-11.

I don’t have much gasoline in the truck, and I’m so broke I can’t afford to pay attention. But I have ammo and Ballistic Testing Zone One is practically out the back door of Ogre Ranch. So we did a little bit of shooting while the kids were doing school work.

Group is good for 50 yards iron sighted, standing. I'll take that.

The Sterling was once again… impressive. The gun was flawless, but one of the magazines was under-sprung and caused two malfunctions when loaded to capacity. Continue reading Commander, Sterling, and a P-11.

The Democrat’s Future for America

Detroit has long been the Model of Democrat Principles. It has to be, because the Democrats have had Free Reign there for decades. Democrats and Unions have made Detroit what it is today.

Now don’t think this is just Steven Crowder doing a hit piece on the city…  There is a lot more to see in Detroit.

And here’s their new plan to bring money back to Detroit.  That’s just awesome.  Way to go guys.  Just give in to the filth and deviancy.  Fantastic.  I’m remembering the SNL skit where they talked about the Worst Job in the world… “Last year’s worst job was Crack Whore!… This year’s worst job… Assistant Crack Whore!”   Kinda made you think where one would go to file that application.   Evidently it’s Detroit… at an ACORN office.
