Take a good hard and close look at the 2011 Remington Catalog. On page 66 there is a blurb for the 450 Bushmaster Premier Accutip load. This blurb makes the claim that the Accutip provides “supreme accuracy” while delivering “A big dose of aerodynamics“. They go on to claim that Accutip “delivers delivers exceptional flight characteristics for ultimate downrange precision and sustained energy.”
Oh really? Hmmm… That’s interesting. Let’s take a look at the ballistic tables on page 107. Continue reading Calling Shennanigans on Remington

Sitting on my hands…
Crusader Weaponry has some amazing news that I just want to shout from the roof tops. But I can’t say anything yet. This is unbelievable and totally awesome… but my lips are sealed until the appointed time.
I don’t do it often – but I just spun in an office chair. I’m that jazzed about this. This firmly anchors Crusader Weaponry on “THE MAP” and is going to raise eyebrows and “WTF’s” from people blind sided by us, from around the country.
Kel-Tec P-11
So I picked up a Kel-Tec P-11 today. I honestly don’t know why, but had to. The size and weight make for an attractive Sub-Compact, as is the 9mm caliber… being a much better defense option that the ever popular (but I don’t know why) .380. I have yet to test fire it, but I did clean and examine it and it looks fine. If I have any problems, I can send it back to KT for them to go through it. Lifetime Warranty makes any Kel-Tec a safe bet, and they stand behind their guns.
I’ll detail strip it down, Slipstream it, and then test fire the crap out of it. If I like it at that point – it will remain in the Ogre Inventory. If I decide I don’t like it, I’ll sell it or trade it.
Watching the news…
I’m watching, listening, and reading the news coming in from around the country and the world… I’m seeing the whole world going to hell in a handbasket. And I just don’t care anymore. I’m seeing Mankind’s ability to be inhumane to fellow man. Our Government’s Puppet Theater to keep the blissfully ignorant and gullible occupied while they run us into the ground. The seeds of war spread and taking root around the globe. I’m just not caring much anymore about all of it. Nothing is surprising me about how bad it’s getting. I really don’t care anymore.
All I care about is taking care of, and protecting my loved ones. Nothing else matters.
Crusader LEO .308 CETME Battle Rifle
The next Crusader LEO Project Rifle we are currently thinking about is a the CETME. There are a lot of options out there for the CETME and they have a good reputation and a following. And the CETME would gain huge benefits from the Slipstream ST-1 Process. Options would be custom color, railed handguards and a collapsing stock. This will be a very smooth, very reliable .308 battle rifle starting out for under a grand. Even with the collapsing stock and railed guards, still very reasonable. So for you guys that can’t afford a Broadsword or have an aversion to an AR Type weapon – This is the gun. HK liked the so much, they took it and it became the G3.
What do you guys think?
OGRE’S TOP SCOPE PICKS:
Some time ago on the old MadOgre.com site, I made this list. Time to update it a little, and repost it. Prices may be a little off.
If I was to do just a Top Ten, it would be full of optics that never dipped below a grand. So what I’ve done is to take a look at each price tier and pick a scope or two at that level. I’ll start out on the low end of the price scale and we’ll work our way up. Now the interesting thing about some of these scopes is that they can sometimes beat scopes at a higher price level. So you might want to take this list with you next time you hit the gun counter so you can check them out head to head with other scopes. When you are looking at a couple different scopes you need to compare the brightness, clarity, eye relief, magnification levels (are they actually magnifying as they are saying they are), and their history for strength. Another thing to consider is the reputation of the company for taking care of the customer after the purchase. There is no chart or number that allows you to rate a scope. Like say Candle Power or Lumens. End since everyone’s eyes are different, optics are subjective. So here we go: Continue reading OGRE’S TOP SCOPE PICKS:
ATI Commander Update
Had some emails asking about how this gun has held up. Well, I’ve not shot it much lately primarily because I’ve been off my feet letting my knee mend. But before me knee issue, I’ve put a number of rounds through it. It has about 350 rounds fired of mixed ammunition. PMC, CCI, Speer, Cor-bon, and Remington UMC. I did have one hiccup in the first round of firings, a failure to feed. That was with some Remington UMC ammo…. which any time I do have a failure in any gun – it’s usually Remington UMC ammo that has the hiccup. I really don’t like that ammo.
I put in a heavier recoil spring. Reason being, it felt like it was under sprung. Just a couple pounds more…. feels just right now. Since then, I’ve not had a single failure of any sort. Then again, I’ve not fired any more Remington ammo through it.
Ejection remains very consistent. Accuracy, while yet to be put on paper, has been Minute of Water Bottle. My impression is that it’s very accurate. However I still need to paper this gun along with a couple others. (My Springfield GI and the Sterling) When I am more “On my feet” I’ll do that. Until then I’m only speculating on the accuracy.
The gun shoots better than other 1911’s that cost much more. Cosmetically, the gun remains unchanged so far… as far as Finish goes. It’s only sporting the swapped grips I mentioned in another post. I’ve yet to have the finish altered in any way. So other than a spring and some wood, this ATI remains stock.
I do want some more appropriate grips for it. The very nice reddish wood grips don’t quite look right. They are too nice. And I need an appropriate holster. Simple brown leather.
I remain well pleased with this little Commander.
Military Charity Orgs
The topic of military charities has come up and two Orgs stand out. The USO and the Wounded Warrior Project are two that stand out the most to me and some others. I’ve had some positive experiences with the USO and one time they really helped me out when I didn’t even ask. Continue reading Military Charity Orgs
Variable Power
I was looking at my rifles… and I noticed something that got me thinking. All my rifles tend have scopes that are variable powered, but they are always left on the same power setting. I never adjust the magnification power. All the midrange scopes are all on the highest setting, the high powered scopes are all the midrange setting. And I never move them… never change them. That’s just how I shoot them. Continue reading Variable Power
Obama is distancing himself from himself?
In Obama’s 2012 Campaign video, we see a lot of people… but not Obama. It seems that even he is distancing himself from himself. That’s hilarious. Even the normal Obama flag wavers are starting to back off supporting the clown in chief.
