A nice day at the Range

When friends come out from Hill AFB and say they want to do some shooting – we go shooting.   So Mike and Tony came out yesterday, and Tony picked up a nice Savage 10 FCP topped it with a 6.5-20×44 Vortex Viper.  Mike brought out the finished Crusader Broadsword.  Both guns needed to be zeroed, so today, we went to the range, including WTA’s Khorne.

Mike, going prone... Nailing the 400 yard plate - every shot.

Crusader Special Projects

Cold Steel has a catalog called “Special Projects”, so we can’t use that name.  Never mind that most of those Special Projects products have been there for years and what’s so special about them is questionable… I need a name for Crusader’s Limited Production Side Projects… LPSP… no, that doesn’t work.   Anyways, the Sterling 9mm Carbine project nailed the goal exactly as I had hoped.  I wanted to do a special side project, and sell 8 to 12 Sterlings.  Well, we have 12 sold, including mine.  We are waiting on checks to come in and we’re getting parts ordered and the project is now officially rolling.  Thank you to everyone who is getting in on this.

Much talk came about on WeTheArmed.com about future Exclusive Offers.  Some of the ideas floating out there… An Uzi, M3 Grease Gun, more Sterlings, a Tactical Lever Action, and of course a 1911.  Before you guys all clamor over the M3… I looked around for parts sources for that, and I’m not happy with what I’m seeing.  Or not seeing for that matter.   So an M3 is going to be difficult.  Same thing with the Beretta Model 12 SMG.  I can’t find any of the parts kits that you used to be able to find everywhere.   So what other ideas do you have for a future Crusader Exclusive Offer?  (Hey… CEO… I like that…)

ATI 1911, I had no choice.

ATI is bringing in some really well made 1911’s.  I’ve been eyeballing this Commander for almost 5 months now.  Had to do it… I… can’t… help… myself.

A Commander 1911 .45... My biggest weakness.

I’m an addict… I know.  I have a problem.  I admit it.  I LOVE guns.

Crusader Weaponry list of soon to be done upgrades:  Full ST-1 Treatment.  Trigger Job, Action Job, and an OD Green Duracoat on the grip frame.  Then those nasty wood grips are getting replaced with something else… I don’t care what.

Speaking of Nikon…

Nikon has a great scope for a .223 rifle, such as your AR-15.  They call it the “M-223”.  It’s slick and easy to use.   It’s actually one of my favorite optics for any longer barreled AR build (Think Crusader Templar) or Varminter configuration.

What does Nikon have for AR-10/SR-25/Broadsword?  Nothing so much… Right now for a Broadsword I’m thinking a PFI RR800.

What Nikon needs to do is a .308 specific scope, much like the M-223… but with an illuminated reticle.

Crusader Sterlings

I am very pleased with how well these Crusader Sterlings have done.    This project is going to be a lot of fun and I’ll be working on these things personally, along side GunDoctor.  I am really looking forward to getting my hands dirty and taking a photo amongst a bunch of SMG’s.

I might have to change the name of the Blog to The Happy Ogre.

Crusader Sterling SMG: Place Your Order.

Those of you that said you wanted a Sterling.  We are doing a limited run of these guns as these are a side project.   Because of this these guns must be pre-paid.  Price is $639.99 each.

These are Semi-Auto Only, 9mm, Slipstream Treated internals, Duracoat finished.  A perfect vehicle to SBR and/or suppress.

To Place Your Order. Contact Joe at Crusader Weaponry to send your payment for the gun and specify your Color.   Flat Black, Olive Drab, or Coyote Brown. (some parts will be black and/or Slipstreamed Grey)
Check your State Laws to see if these are legal.  They are classified as 9mm Rifles.

For some more information on the Sterling, I offer a link to this informational video.   To show you what these things originally were capable of, I will show you this video… but please note – we are only selling semi auto only versions with 16 inch barrels… not actual Submachineguns as shown below:

Tentative Date: Crusader Training 3-26

The only date in March that I have for Training is the 26th.  The course is Defensive Pistol, as that’s what most folks are asking for right off the bat.

However that time last year, and the year before, the Range was a Mud Bog.  The ground, isn’t frozen anymore and the soil is completely saturated.  4×4’s get stuck, in fact, last year… several did.  So I’m looking for an alternative venue.  There are a couple possibilities, one on the Wasatch Front.   I’ll post as things develop.

Another thing I want to do is a Crusader Teaghlach Training Day:  A training day for Family Members and Close Friends of Crusader Weaponry…  Wives, In Laws, Parents, and even Children.  Grilling and Gunning at the Range.  I’m thinking early summer.   Cost of the course will be Meat and Beverages.
