These guys are having too much fun. Massive gun safety violations, and I don’t condone this sort of thing… but it was funny.
Especially using a Desert Eagle like a spoon. Something I’ve never considered before.

I love this. Steve Wynn blows Obama out of the water so hard, it’s hilarious. And he’s absolutely right. I love this so much… when I’m next in Vegas, I’m staying a night at Wynn’s place.
I’ve had a lot of cars in my driving career. Mostly German Sports Sedans which were mostly all very good. Some American Cars, Some Japanese cars Some favorites, some I still and always will miss… and some real dogs. This post is about those dogs. My Bottom Three.
Obama is freaking up in the night. No, I don’t want higher taxes, Mr. President… you jackass. Since you’ve been in office, my income has been lower and the cost of everything has gone higher. My savings are depleted and debt is rising. All of this as a direct result of your policies. Direct and tangible results of the Obama administration’s actions.
No, I don’t want to pay more. I want this Administration to go away. I can’t wait to Vote you jackasses out of office come November 2012.
The SIG P220 Compact SAS. It’s all I want for Christmas… just this…
In all seriousness, I’ve always wanted a compact P220 and have never had one. My respect for the P220 goes so far that I could almost forgo the companionship of 1911’s, in favor of the P220’s. I’ve had several full sized SIG P220’s. One was a duty weapon for me in Richmond, VA. Fantastic gun. However back then, compacts were just not around. If you wanted one and were flush with coin, there were a couple top level gunsmiths that could do a chop job and make you one. It was the stuff of dreams. Then there was the P245, a factory cut down. I don’t know the difference between the P245 and the P220 Compact, if there is any. But it’s still the gun I’ve always wanted and never had. Looking back at the Custom versions from gunsmiths… they featured melting and trigger work and all that. One I saw was about 2500 bucks into the work. And now here is a Compact, Melted/Dehorned, with an even better trigger… from the factory.
Why do I not already have one already?
Obama’s popularity is crashing. He is unable to just make “suggestions” to congress with any expectations that they will get done. If he does so, all the Blue Dog Democrats are going to stand up against him because they remembered what happened when they passed the AWB under Clinton.
This means he’s gong to have to make an Executive Order. Something that we’ve known he’d do if he won reelection. A Second Term Obama means an Obama without his Mask. If he wins, not only is his mask off… but also the gloves. He’s going to be a disaster of biblical proportions that makes the damage he’s already done look like a simple bad hair day. But what we are starting to see here now is something actually potentially worse. We’re starting to see a Cornered Obama. Backed up against the wall he’s going to be desperate to advance his agenda in his last days in power.
One mistake people make is in thinking Obama is stupid. He’s not. Acting incompetent like a greenhorn is how he’s getting a pass from the masses of the growing uncomfortable supporters. So he’s going to make some seriously draconian actions that can be argued as “Reasonable”.
I have the utmost respect for Weatherby and their Vanguards. However I just don’t really care for them. I’ve sold a ton of them and I’ve shot plenty enough… it’s just not my flavor.
Well, Weatherby had given the Vanguard’s a face lift. Most noticeable is the new stock. It looks much better… and it feels much better. But what I like the most is the accuracy guaranty. Sub-MOA, something you had to spend extra on with the old Vanguards.
I sold one to a fellow here… a good shooter. In .223, it was. The next day he comes back with his target. Even while adjusting the scope’s magnification, and using off the shelf ammo… 1/2 MOA. It was still under an inch at 200 yards. I don’t care who you are, 1/2 MOA out of the box with off the shelf ammo, for 449.99, that is flat out impressive.
I’m not in the market for a new rifle… but I could buy one of these new Vanguards myself. I really could.
Now, if I wanted to get one of these new rifles… for general hunting of North American Big Game or what have you… I think i’d probably have to take it in good old .270 Winchester. Accurate round. Good ballistics. Hornady’s Custom #8056, 140 grain BTSP Interlock is probably the ideal load for factory ammo. 2940 FPS. Not too shabby. That would do the job on dang near everything in North America.
Got a shipment of Rugers in today. Opened the box for a little SP-101. I took it out of the bag and picked a target and took aim. And then I noticed something. The front sight was orange.
What? Covered completely in nasty rust. Come on Ruger! What the hell? I’ve seen more and more problems coming from Ruger.
I was discussing the new Leupold HAMR with a customer today. He was considering the Trijicon ACOG, but didn’t like the very short eye relief of the ACOG. Both are fantastic optics and I have always been, and continue to be a fan of the ACOG. But the new HAMR is really good. But if I was to pick just one… Which one? After much consideration I have made a choice.
Between the two, I’d have the HAMR.
Reason being, it has better glass, clearer, brighter, and it doesn’t have that right side distortion the ACOG’s have. And it has better eye relief. Almost 3 inches instead of one and half with the ACOG.
The battery thing isn’t a real issue because when it’s off, you still have a reticle. You only need to turn it on when it gets dark. And come on, how many other things do you have with batteries anyway? GPS, Radio, Lights, but some guys are going to poo-poo the HAMR because you have a battery for night shooting? Please. For better optical clarity, I’ll deal with a once a year battery change.
