GunfighterCast

Congratulations to GunfighterCast for getting the nomination for a podcast award.  He is in the EDUCATION category.
Now he needs your votes.  You can vote once a day.  Do it.  Daniel Shaw is a great guy, great podcaster, and an outstanding US Marine.  Let’s give him our support.
Even if I did smoke his ass on pistols at the MAG-40.
Go to podcastawards.com and vote the hell out of it.

We still have the M-4 Throwdown coming up. And I’ll whip his ass again… but still… Go give him some some votes!!

Nice Purse.

Wife and I stopped at SMITH’s the other night. I noticed a guy wearing a “Tactical Bag”. Didn’t think much of it. I watched this guy walk around, purse over his shoulder. He’d talk on his phone, put it back in. Take out a widget, do something with it, then put it back in his purse, while pushing a shopping cart just like all the other women in the store.
This biker dude walks up to the ManPurse Packer and I just happened to be within earshot, as I was selecting bacon and the Purse Man was checking out the Sausages.
“Nice Purse.” The Biker said.
“It’s not a purse!” The Purse Guy said, indignantly. “It’s a Maximum Expedition Tactical Load bearing Assault Recon Bag!”
“Yeah? Well whatever the hell you call it, it’s still a fucking brown purse, bitch.” Then he walked away.
I was trying not to laugh as the Purse Guy just stood there stammering like his whole world was crushed. I picked up the bacon I wanted and walked past him heading out of the damage zone. He looked at me and saw that I was still trying not to laugh.
“It’s not a purse.” He said, defiantly.
I kept walking but said over my shoulder, “None of my business, pal. Whatever makes you feel butch.”
I saw the guy yesterday. He didn’t have the big with him.

The Book Signing

The book signing was fun.  Talked to some interesting people, signed some books.  According to Hastings Book Store, I am Famous and Renowned.

A couple things made this day special for me.  One, was that my brother came up and hung out with me during the signing.  The other was that my wife came out with me and shared this special day with me.

One of the things we discovered together… or Re-Discovered together, is the Back Way to Ogden.  We drove Highway 40 to Heber, as usual.  Then north to connect to I-80.  Normally we would turn West and hit SLC.  This time, we turned East and headed towards Wyoming… We hit the interchange of Highway 84 I think it was, and this took us pretty much straight up to Ogden, bypassing the Worst Traffic In The World, and shaving off about 45 Minutes.

What was neat about this route was that it is MADE FOR MOTORCYCLES and I am determined to RIDE this Route as soon as I can as it was spectacular.  Lots of twists and curves and some gorgeous scenery… it has become one of my favorite roads.

As a bonus, it also passes through Morgan, UT.  For those not familiar with Morgan, take a good close look at the barrel of your Browning Firearm.

I think we need to organize a Group Ride from Heber City to Morgan, so we can pay homage to Browning.

Things I hate in Movies

There are 3 Key movie elements that has become rather popular in most any movie these days in one form or another.  If you have one of these Elements in your movie – Your Movie Sucks.  If your movie has more than one, it really sucks.

Roller Coaster Scenes.  Any Scene where the characters are in a run away vehicle of some sort, coal car, mine car, Sled, or just sliding down a long thing…. I hate Roller Coasters.  Disney Animated Movies are famous for these things.

Costume Change Montages.  The Character is trying on multiple outfits.  As found in any chick flick, these scenes usually are book ended by Shopping Montages.

Hysterical Screaming Women.  The woman character, regardless of looks or relationship to the protagonist, can do nothing but scream.

There is one movie that pretty much touches on all these elements to one extent or another, and I hate it.  It’s classified as a Non-Movie.  A piece of Film Garbage that is not mentioned or referenced – ever – due to the massive suckage.

I had to use a clip that didn’t have that stupid bitch screaming so I wouldn’t shoot my computer.

Bonus Element:  Dragons.  I fucking hate Dragons.  Unless it’s Smaug.  Or Management.  Those are the only good dragons.  Your Dragon sucks.

Supernatural

I hate to say this… but I think Supernatural has beaten Firefly as my favorite TV Series.  Firefly was awesome, very awesome indeed.  But Supernatural just has everything that makes it all work. Action, Adventure, Humor, Cool Car, Cool Music, it’s just the top of the food chain.

If you are missing Supernatural, you are in a sadder world.

Book Signing

This Saturday I will be doing a Book Signing at the Hastings book store in Ogden at 1pm.  The location is 340 E 525 N.
Use Google Maps or a Garmin to find it… Not Apple Maps.
I will be kicking it out there on my ZX-11, straight in to Hastings from Ogre Ranch.  Afterwards, I will need some foodage, so anyone wants to come hangout and gobble burgers is welcome… And then I have to Jetmoto back as I’ve got obligations to care for Saturday night.
I was asked if I will sign ammo pouches or holsters.  Sure.  I’ve also signed Kindled, iPads, and a Nook.  I will also sign breasts if I must.  Anything for my fans.
I’ll be taking pictures too… This is going to be a blast. Talking Zombies, Horror flicks, Prius Destruction… Come on out!

To Blog or not to Blog

If you think you want to Blog… Go for it.  Just do it.  Its easy.
Oh, wait… you want to have a successful blog?  Define successful first.
First thing you need though, is something to say.  If you just want to run your mouth, use Twitter or Facebook. If you want to really publish your words, then Blog.
The best way to do it is to pick a topic or two, or even three. These are you main subjects and stick to those.  These should be subjects you are knowledgeable about.
Blog regularly, but make sure you have a point.
Blog for yourself.  If you have an audience then great.
Don’t look at Blog Stats.  Just do what you do.
If you don’t suck, people will dig it.  If they don’t, who care? You blog for yourself.  If you stay true to this, people will dig it.

I am considering, very strongly, starting a new blog.  This would be a Food/Road/Character blog.  A division of MadOgre.com.  Not a replacement.  If/When I do that, I’m going to kill my Facebook Account and just concentrate on my blogs and WTA.
