I didn’t read comic books as a kid, I read thick novel of epic scale. The comic kids have had it easy. Ironman. Captain America. You don’t have be humiliated saying you loved reading it… Or looking at the pictures as the case may be. But saying Starship Troopers was your favorite book is tantamount to saying you eat boogers. BYU conducted a recent and poorly conducted study of firearms used in bear attacks. Just having a gun isn’t enough. A. You have to have a gun and ammunition capable of stopping a bear. B. You have to know how to use it. That requires training.
The news report in the Trib makes mention that people don’t practice in a realistic manner… That part is very true. Just punching paper isn’t training.
The key in a sudden bear attack scenario is an accurate first round hit made fast. Very fast. You have one shot and no time to take it. Thus is the 21 foot rule to the extreme.
Practice with your bear gun from slung on the shoulder, snapping the gun off and breaking that shot accurately. The time to strive for is about 1.5 seconds.

Congratulations to Maryland. A Federal Judge has deemed their unfair and restrictive permitting system to be unconstitutional. We’very yet to see what actual changes this will bring to that state… But its positive… A step in the right direction.

How about living in a free country where we don’t need a permit to exercise a constitutional right? It’s a right, not a privilege… We don’t have Church Permits… Speech Permits… A pass from Quartering troops. But the one right that specifically says Shall Not Be Infringed, so boldly… is chained around the neck with Permits.
We don’t require permits to buy beer… Permits to engage in vice… To have babies… But to carry with you the means if self defense we’ve allowed our states to infringe upon us.
I call upon every State Representative in Utah, and every other State, to drop all permits and recognize the Second Amendment at face value… Adopt Constitution Carry and recognize that right for citizens of other States.
GM has killed production of the Chevy Volt. The car that is completely useless, slow, underpowered, handles like an iceberg, and has the range of a Punt.
Here’s the thing… It’s actually not a bad looking little car. Much better looking that a Prius. I bet the Volt would actually sell and do fairly well if they made a version of the Volt that was powered by a simple little eco-friendly 4 cylinder gas or diesel engine.
