The violence in Libya is horrid and unfortunate… and it saddens anyone with even a small strain of humanity that a government would attack its own people. Because of this, there has been talk of a US intervention. This is a bad idea.

The News Media is as insane as Sheen
The top story across several news media outlets – all that I looked at – is Charlie Sheen’s mental breakdown. The man is a train wreck, but so what? The economy, oil prices, the horror in Libya and Egypt and all the problems in the world… Yet all they can focus on is Charlie Sheen.
Pathetic.
Top Shot Season 2
It’s the hip thing for all the super serious “Real Shooters” out there to dis on Top Shot. You can look in pretty much any Gun Forum and find the same general vibe. They hate Top Shot because of the Drama, yet they admit that the shooting stages look like a lot of fun.
“Gun Talk” needs to edit their page
If you look at Gun Talk’s web page, you can see they are a little outdated.
Welcome to Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk®, the only nationally syndicated radio talk show about firearms, shooting and gun rights.
Yeah, we all know that’s not true anymore. Armed American Radio isn’t just another Firearms Related Radio show – It’s the fastest growing radio show of this type. AAR is set to surpass Gun Talk, if it continues with it’s current growth rate, before your kids go trick or treating again. However AAR isn’t continuing the same trend. AAR is accelerating… With all the new sponsors and major new markets opening up… AAR is getting huge. So Gun Talk needs to stop promoting that line. They used to pump that out on TheShootingWire newsletters and they finally stopped that. But they need to edit that blurb on their site.
Speaking of Nikon…
Nikon has a great scope for a .223 rifle, such as your AR-15. They call it the “M-223”. It’s slick and easy to use. It’s actually one of my favorite optics for any longer barreled AR build (Think Crusader Templar) or Varminter configuration.
What does Nikon have for AR-10/SR-25/Broadsword? Nothing so much… Right now for a Broadsword I’m thinking a PFI RR800.
What Nikon needs to do is a .308 specific scope, much like the M-223… but with an illuminated reticle.
Thank you Nikon!
Nikon gave me a sweet new Monarch 3-12x42SF M BDC scope… I love free stuff. This new scope is going to go with the new Browning X-Bolt .300WSM that Browning is giving me.
Then I can trade or sell that for a new laptop! SWEET!!!
The rifle is still coming… it will be here in June.
Gaming Fudd.
I think I’m a gaming Fudd. I’m a die hard PC Gamer and I’m really only interested in First Person Shooters (especially if they are in the Horror genre) and Simulators. I really don’t care about any other game types, even if I’ve dabbled in RTS and RPG’s.
Because of the FPS Fixation, I scoff at Consoles. Reason being is Mouse Aiming. Controller Aiming flat blows. And WASD combined with Mouse Aiming allows for very smooth and fluid movement. Controllers, not so much.
More Trolley Square Trauma
The subject of the Trolley Square Shooting is back in the news. Back in 2007 there was a shooting spree at the Trolley Square Mall in SLC. I remember that day clearly. I was going to take my Son to Trolley Square so we could buy a gift for Mrs. Ogre from her favorite little store there at Trolley Square. We were about to head out when I mentioned my destination to a co-worker. That co-worker said “That store isn’t there anymore.” Had we left then instead of going to a Plan B… my Son and I would have been there at Trolley Square, and I would have parked where I always parked, going in that entrance I always go there. We would have been right there in the center of the shooting.
Interesting observation
On the way to Church this morning, I saw something interesting. A hawk swooped down on a dove that was sitting on a powerline. The hawk drove the dove to the ground, tearing it’s chest open. The hawk wasn’t much bigger than the dove… it was a small hawk. Not sure of the species. The hawk tried, but was unable to carry the dead dove off. So it feasted on it’s kill where it laid. One of my younger boys who saw this as well, declared that this was “COOL!”
Why so serious?
One of the reasons I’ve left a number of firearms forums and pretty much started my own… because too many people take Forums too seriously and get too wound up over differences of opinion.
Arguing on the Internet serves no purpose. State your opinion, back it up with whatever you like… and if someone disagrees… that doesn’t make you less of a Man. But when you persist and argue and let yourself get wound up over it… That does.
