On Armed American Radio last Sunday, Mark Walters and I joked about an Anti-Gun report that mentioned .22 Rimfire Shotguns. I was unaware of any such beast, as was Mark.
Well, Mossberg actually made one. I was looking up a source for a .22 Magazine and found reference to the 1930’s Mossberg Targo .22 Shotgun. So, I was wrong. There is a .22LR Smoothbore out there. These were produced until, believe it or not, as late as 1968 according to that link. Remington made one too. Based on their little pump action .22, it was called the MoSkeet Trap. These were primarily used in Shooting Galleries, but saw slow sales everywhere else.
So, there you go. I was wrong. I am however surprised that Listeners didn’t call this to our attention.
I talk about this with customers and knowledge seekers all the time. Caliber is a question that really doesn’t make such a huge difference as most cartridges are throwing the lead in a similar trajectory until you get into some extreme differences. So your old .30-06 vs .270 question is moot. Most guys get the bigger caliber and then shoot the cheapest bullets through it. This is not advisable. Your bullet selection plays an important, critical part. Because the rifle doesn’t make the kill. The bullet does. You need to match the bullet to what you want to kill with it.
First Up: I know guns do a lot of things… but I’ve never considered it as a Wart Remover. It worked. The wart was removed. Kind of. If by removing the finger the wart was on, then yes, shooting the wart worked.
Second: Scientists are not our friends. This is bad. Isn’t there some sort of Peer Review or Corporate Funding Review that could have put a stop to this research on the bases that this is a very bad idea? Seriously, who is going to try a bite? Oh wait… this just my sell big in Germany.
And the best one:
Global Warming? Sorry… no… we meant COOLING. Global Cooling. As in, we’re looking at an Ice Age again. So for all you guys that purchased Carbon Offset Credits. HA!
For some reason, this segment of the shooting community has exploded. Because evidently classic .22 shooting just isn’t cool enough anymore. You have guns like the Ruger 10/22, the Marlin Model 60, the Marlin 39A Lever Action, or something simple like one of the excellent CZ bolt actions…. but no… they are not “TACTICAL”. Let me tell you, the Lever Action was Tactical before the word was invented. Because if “Black with Rails” means Tactical then I guess it’s not. If Tactical means it can be applied with tactics, or if it’s user friendly and provides actual utility in different situations, then absolutely. Well, some folks think it’s all about the AmTracks… so we have to roll with as many rails as possible to be even more tactical. I mean, hell, we have Rails for our Rails because no one is making a gun with enough rails so we have to add more. Anyways, the rifles. Let’s take a quick look.
So the Democrats response to the ATF’s SNAFU, we’re calling Operation Gunwalker, is to bring up the need for more Gun Control. If that makes any sense to you, please don’t ever come back to MadOgre.com again.
I have a better solution to prevent this from happening again – Don’t let the ATF have, possess, deal with, or even look at any Firearms. They can’t even have a copy of Guns & Ammo while on Duty. This situation is so bad, that any and all claim to have done any good whatsoever as an Agency… is completely undone by the damage that this situation has done. You have Agents that protested. You have Dealers that protested. You have Administrators who protested, and you have a Chief that claims he didn’t know anything. He’s either shockingly stupid, or infuriatingly incompetent. Or both. A, B, or C, the response is the same. The BATFE Chief needs to be dismissed. No allowing him to Step Down. I mean kicked out of his office, Perp Walked out of the building, and thrown physically to the street. But that’s not what the Democrats want. They want more Gun Control. Basically giving the BATFE more power. This is like giving a Drunk Driver who just crashed a Double Rum and Coke and the keys to a faster car. Is the DNC completely staffed by morons?
Tonight I did a Detailed Strip and Clean of my Crusader Sterling. The more I “get to know” the Sterling, the more I respect it. Any gun that makes a Mosin Nagant look complicated… I like it.
I have some ideas to help tweak the next batch of Sterlings… as soon as we’re ready to do that with our Upgrade we’re working on. Still tweaking that. So later this summer we’ll do another run of those I think. August maybe.
I’m going to do some Sterling vids on Maintenance and Tactics.
This is something I’ve wanted to build for years. A Naked Sport bike built off a Goldwing. This guy did it. It’s just not quite finished. If it had a seat, and if it had the cover for the tank, I’d be very tempted to trade my Magna for it. This ginormous Cafe Racer is just cool… at least, I think it’s cool. The drag bars and the stripped down look… I really think that’s as cool as bikes get. I’d paint the thing black and call it the “Deathwing”. Which was the name I’d given the build when I was a teenager. I had some friends that started the project, but never taken it to completion. Much like this one.
The ST-1 Treatment is basically a permanent application of the Nano Lube that makes Slipstream Oil and Grease so good. We treat your Bolt Carrier Group, Buffer and Spring, and Charging Handle. The result is that your AR feels dramatically different. Much much smoother. It will even sound different. Quieter. A lot quieter. Get the ST-1 treatment for your Production AR and it’s going to feel like a Custom AR. Actually, it’s going to feel better than any other Customer AR I’ve felt.
Thanks to Huey for putting this up. Seriously, thank you very much. This is out of your pocket, all on your own time and you didn’t have to do this. Thank you.
