The Loathsome Cowboy

As most readers of MadOgre.com know, I am not a fan of Ken Salazar.  Ken serves under President Obama as the Secretary of the Interior.  This fact alone marks him as one that should not be trusted.  But now he has taken things a step further and has thumbed his nose at the Constitution and the Rule of Law.

Michelle Malkin has the story about it.

The story that really isnt getting out however is even more infuriating.  Out here in the Uintah Basin, the Department of the Interior held an auction for 77 oil drilling leases.  The bids were won.  The payments were made.  But Ken Salazar hasn’t released the permits for drilling.  This is a game that the Department of the Interior has been playing for decades and decades, and Ken Salazar has basically crushed it, kept the money, and refuses to release those permits.   Some companies were not overly effected.  But others were crushed.  The results were some company failures and a lot of companies moving drilling operations to North Dakota.  The direct economic impact to my little corner of the planet was that we saw a Job Loss of 3,000 workers.

That’s not 3,000 jobs in the country… or in the state… That was 3,000 jobs here in this local area.   Think about that.   We had homes that went vacant all around town.  Foreclosures.  Repossessions.   Trickle down job losses, deep cuts across the board… financial stresses on families.  It ruined lives here.  It kicked my own personal economy below the belt, because all the sudden my best customers were unemployed or had moved away.   All because of Salazar.

This was devastating to the areas economy.  One could see this as an Administration’s punishment on Utah.  One could also see this as the work of a bitter, spiteful, and completely unlikable man from Colorado who has a grudge.

Not only is Ken Salazar immensely unlikeable, the man wears a Cowboy Hat and a String Tie.  No one wears that anymore.  That look went out with the TV show “Dallas”.    Get Rid of Salazar!

Project Gunwalker

Our friend David Codrea blogs at War on Guns an the Examiner. David has broken a story wide open that should be looked at very closely. He’s titled this issue “Project Gunwalker.” Let me break it down for you in a nutshell. The BATFE has been tracking illegal gun sales and gun trafficing into Mexico, including illegal gunsales that the BATFE ordered Gun Dealers to allow happen. Let me say that again… The BATFE ordered gun dealers to sell guns illegally. Thousands of guns.  Those guns were tracked into Mexico. Some of those guns were found at scenes of crimes, including the murders of US Border Patrol Agents. They ordered the Gun Dealers to make the illegal sales, so they could be tracked. And then the Main Stream Media makes US Gun Dealers look like the bad guys here. As if these crimes wouldn’t have happened if Gun Dealers would have been more honest. This is a farce. This is a breach of trust by the BATFE, and it needs to become public knowledge. Some media outlets are starting to pick up on this. David is going to be coming on Armed American Radio to talk about Project Gunwalker… this is staggering.

Good job breaking this story, David.  Keep up the good work.  And we will see you on the Radio!

Slipstream ST-1 Treatment

Huey from Huey’s Gunsight had recently sent in some of his AR rifle’s parts for the ST-1 Treatment. This is the permanent Slipstream treatment. From what he’s saying… I think he likes the results.

Independent 3rd Party Testers have put ST-1 up against Fail-Zero. Guess who won? Well, let’s just say that it’s unfortunate that they even have “fail” in their name. The ST-1 treatment lasted twice as long as Fail-Zero before they stopped further testing because they ran out of ammunition.
Slipstream… The best weapon lubrication – period.

North American Arms Ranger

Ken from North American Arms sent me their new little “RANGER” .22 Mag revolver.

It looks like a work of art... a balistic jewel.

The Ranger is very unique for NAA… it’s a top break with an auto ejector, just like a little Schofield. It’s also unique in that its the only top break being made in the US right now. (The others are from Italy) So far my impression is very favorable. Unfortunately its been too cold to hit the range! Hopefully I can get some shots in before the Big Game.
The ejector is an example of some precision machining.

Egypt

I’m already tired of the constant barrage of news coming out of Egypt. Most of which right now are not about what’s going on, but about how mistreated the American Reporters are. These poor unfortunate “journalists” getting attacked and threatened. I wonder if it’s just a matter of time when the topic is rampant shark attacks, that these reporters are going to be out on surf boards and then will be shocked that a shark takes a nibble. This is the same thing that they are doing right now. Attention Whoring in their desperation for ratings. A guy goes into an Anti-American Mob and is surprised that he gets attacked? This is a stupid thing to do. How about you go into a Cafe in down town Green Bay Wisconsin this Sunday with a Steelers shirt? That would be a stupid thing to do. How about going to a Biker Bar and proclaiming that “Harley’s Suck!” and “Hey, Village People! Sing YMCA for me!”. Let me tell you… the beating you would get… you earned that. These reporters, they are earning their welts as well. The Democratic Way was mishandled from way back so this eruption is no surprise. The leader was a dictator that was crushing his people and his government was evil and corrupt. The problem though is that the Muslim Brotherhood is taking full advantage of this in a move to gain power. They offer a better way of life, they are making promises that sound good to the masses of impoverished people to gain their support.
They will win. Egypt is lost. And this situation could have been prevented years ago.

SHOT Show 2011:

Here’s the run down. Everything happened fast and it’s hard to keep track of just what happened when it happened. I have a lot of pictures that I threw onto my Facebook page, but I’m going to put up a quick Vid on YouTube that shows all of them in a montage. But let me give you a narrative right now:
I drove out Sunday morning. The trip from Vernal to Vegas is a long drive, but it isn’t that bad at all. I left about 10AM and got to my hotel about 6PM. I was set up in the Stratosphere, which was nice but the hotel nickels and dimes you on every little freaking thing so much so that it was a turn off. “Resort Fees” that don’t cover anything, that was annoying. I’d rather have paid a little more and felt like a “Guest”, know what I mean? But the room was great and the hotel staff didn’t steal any of my stuff.
The next morning I went to the Media Range Day. This was one hell of an event. Let me tell you, if you have a Press Pass and you don’t go to the Media Range Day – you might as well not go to SHOT. Because picking up a gun and looking at it is very different than being at the range with the gun with ammo and being able to actually shoot the thing and get some real hands on. It opened my eyes on a great many things.
