Conflicted

I’ve been struggling with this subject for some time.   Not just the subject, but even if I should post this.   Publishing my thoughts on this – feels dangerous.  But the First Amendment is backed up by the Second.  So here it is:

Here’s the thing.   Sometime ago I observed a TSA Agent going about her business of providing Security Theater at the Airport.  She was Muslim, and wearing her traditional Muslim head-covering.   My knee-jerk reaction was that of anger.  It was her people are the reason why we have the TSA now.  Why we have to take off our shoes at the Airport.
But what got me even more angry – was that I got angry about that.  Damn it!  I’m not racist.  I never have been.  I’m not against anyone of a different faith than mine!  I’ve been wired against Hate all my life!
You see, I swore an Oath that I took and still take very seriously.  To protect the constitution.  To protect those that believe and say things that I might disagree with, but I’ll fight to the death to protect their right to say it.   That includes Muslims who wish to worship Allah and hold to the beliefs and practices of Islam.
Here’s another thing.  I’m a Mormon.  One of our Articles  of Faith says:

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

We know what it feels like to be looked down upon for being different.  Mormons were driven out of their homes, several times.  Our church built homes only to be forced to leave them.  We built a whole city, only to be forced to leave it… A new temple that took so much sacrifice to build.  (Nauvoo) We only got to use it for a little while.  The Hayes Administration tried to block Mormon Immigrants.  A Governor declared a genocide on us.   If you study Mormon history, you find you are studying persecution and abuse for a very long time.  One of my own family was murdered for simply being Mormon.

So when we hear people speak like how Donald Trump is speaking, a part of us feels sick inside to see this happening again, even to another people.   It’s wrong, and all of my upbringing is against it.

And yet, there is a part of me that agrees with Trump’s assertion that we should hold off until we “figure out what’s going on” as he said.  Is holding off until we have a viable vetting process such a bad idea?  President Jimmie Carter did just that.  Yet when Trumps says that, he’s a badguy?  I don’t get that.

Another Marine Battle.

BATTLE ERUPTS OVER MARINE CORPS TRAINING DOC THAT CITES ‘LACK OR LOSS OF SPIRITUAL FAITH’ AS POTENTIAL SUICIDE RISK FACTOR

Read this article.

Might not be a popular concept, but it pans out. The wicked taketh the truth to be hard.
Working with vets suffering from PTSD showed me very clearly that Servicemen who had faith, then went through the trauma and lost it – are truly at great risk. Having faith to begin with helps a great deal. Because there is a huge aspect of Self Worth for the individual soldier and faith helps one feel his self worth. Doesn’t matter what your faith is – You don’t have to be issued a religion. But a Belief is powerful here. I think a great many fall because The Adversary tears a marine’s or soldier’s faith down, then tears down their self worth… then he has them. If they keep the faith, then that armor protects them.
Now the Adversary wants to regulate the Faith out of the Soldiers and Marines.  Which is only going to result in more suicides, more pharmaceutical treatments, more mental health cases that cause loss of gun rights and more institutionalization where all of it could have been taken care of with Faith.

Luke 22:36.

“Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

I think this is good advice, coming straight from our Savior himself.    We are heading into a time of trials.  For me, this last 4 Years have been very difficult.  I am not expecting the next 4 to be any better.  In fact, I am expected things to get much worse.
I am not a very Religious man.  But I am a Spiritual one.  I believe in God, and I believe in the Gospel according to the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I am a Mormon and proud to be so.  Even though I am not a very good one.  I do not attend church very often.  More like, hardly at all.  But the Spiritual side of me is telling me that it’s time to go back.

Warning – Religious Post Here.

The Catholic Vote

Every time I turn on a Talk Radio station, I’m hearing about Obama Administrations SNAFU with the Catholics. You’ve all heard of this already, I’m sure, so I’m not going to rehash it. But basically the Obamistration is telling the Catholic Church that they must go against their faith and do something they believe to be wrong. A clear violation of the First Amendment. This is a Freedom Of Religion issue. Forcing them to go against their religion is not freedom for it. Compulsion, regardless of reason or purpose, is an ugly thing. This is going to effect not just the Catholics, but all Faiths. As such, all Faiths are outraged.
For example, if you believe homosexuality is wrong, the administration is saying you have to. That’s going against a principle of your faith. Now the administration is saying that they can compromise. Okay, so now instead of going all out in an act you believe is wrong, they are saying “Okay, just put the tip in”. Yeah, that’s not going to work either… The only thing that is going to be acceptable is a complete reversal of the order.
Here’s the thing though… The talking heads are all saying that the Catholics are going to all vote against Obama now and the Democrats and this is going to really hurt them. I don’t think that’s going to pan out. Looking bad, yes. Hurt them? Maybe a little. Because when it comes right down to it, Democrats regardless of faith is still going to vote Democrat. Catholics vote 54% to 60% for the Democrats depending on who you listen to. Democrats have always supported Planned Parenthood, Abortion Rights, and the distribution of contraceptives at schools. Yet the majority of Catholics have been still voting in favor of the Democrats. This isn’t going to change because of the guy in the Oval Office all the sudden. Sure, they crossed the line. But those that don’t vote their convictions will just move that line.
Here’s the way I see it. If you are a Good Catholic, or a Good Mormon… as the Policies of those Churches dictate – you can not vote Democrat because you are voting against your faith.

NBC: Giving the Finger to America

NBC edited the Pledge of Allegiance.  If you watch the video, you can see they are cutting the words and splicing in patriotic images.  Which was poorly done and they could have shown those images over the words of the Pledge.  But that’s not what they did because they had a motive.  Watch the video and listen to the words.  They cut out two words.  Under God.

This is an attack on the base foundation that our Nation was built on.  We’re a nation built on Conservative Judeo-Christian Values.  We’re not an Anti-Religious country.   80% of the Country believes in God.  Different views, but generally we are a nation that believes.   And that’s a great thing.  But there is a movement in the country to undermine that foundation.  We see that in the constant attacks against anything that symbolizes Christianity.  And we see that NBC is a part of that movement.

The insulting part is that back-handed apology NBC made.  They didn’t say they were sorry that they edited the Pledge.  They said that they were sorry people were offended.  They didn’t even mention what they cut out.  They couldn’t even say that.   Scumbags.

Someone looks silly…

The Bible says that no one knows when it’s going to happen.  This Rapture Preacher is just bugnuts to have the audacity to say that he knows.  Well, the day came and went and nothing happened.  If God was talking to him, and telling him when it was going to happen, I kinda think it would have happened.

Now he’s saying “Oh, it’s in October“.  Yeah, that’s not how God works.  We’re talking about the God that hit the Egyptians with plagues, knocked off the first borns, parted the Red Sea… brought down pillars of fire and handed Moses the Commandments.   That’s how God works.  He tells his Prophet he’s going to do something, it happens.  This Peacher is no Moses.  You know what the Bible was right about?  That there would be many False Prophets.
