CDC warns of Zombies

The CDC is warning people about Zombies.  It’s kind of funny that he CDC is using Zombies as it’s Disaster Analog, since Gun Owners have been doing it for years and years.   We call it our “Zombie Plan”.  The ZP can be activated for any disaster/situation which requires drastic actions for survival.  Now the CDC report I linked to doesn’t mention it… but Firearms and Ammunition are also critical.  Because even if you don’t face Brain Eaters, you will face other people who will want what you have… everything you have.

  1. Actully, as you said, a good first step to being prepared for a natural disaster of any kind. It sure has drawn attention to the idea of being prepared to take care of your own. The Zombie aspect just widens the appeal to casual readers.

  2. Funny how all of these “preparedness plans” that originate from the educated elite rarely, if ever, mention firearms. Almost as if survival isn’t going to be a nasty, raw and occasionally violent undertaking.

On that note … has anyone else seen the movie, “Panic in Year Zero” (1962)?

  3. If it were one gun it would be a tough call for me. I’m not really into 5.56/.223 but you can lug a ton of rounds (in comparison to 12 ga.). But shotguns are pretty devastating. And they have fewer parts and are easier to maintain. It’s just the logistics regarding ammo that’s really the only negative.

I’m also one of those people that actually enjoy MRE’s. But since I like everything, that isn’t saying much. But MRE’s are mighty portable. As is beef jerky. And of course a first aid kit, plenty of antiseptic and clean bandages.

But in the end it won’t mean a hill of beans if you get bit. At that point you either amputate (which doesn’t work all that well if bitten in the neck or face) or you find someone worthy. Let them know you will give them all your stuff. On the condition they blow your brains out first.
