Springfield Range Officer.

We finally got in one of the famed Springfield Range Officer 1911’s. The simplicity and plain appearance belies the nature of the gun. It’s truly a Sleeper… a Q Ship.  I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

The asking price of the SA1911RO is extremely reasonable.  We’re asking only $759.99 for a gun that shoots like a gun that costs twice as much.  The RO is now on My List.

  1. She is a sweet 1911 that has all of the features that I personally want…but I think the name is pretty stupid. I guess all of the “cool” names are all taken.

  2. We’ve had a couple through the shop now and they have sold very very very well. IMHO the best value out there for a 1911.

    1. I think you are right. Didn’t think so before I got it in my hand… but no doubt now. A couple Bens over a Taurus or Rem R1… with this level of build quality? Staggeringly impressive.

  3. What if I don’t want to adjust the sights? They should be on, and then I won’t mess with them. The target sights just don’t do it for me.

    1. What if you want to shoot different bullets or different distances and always be able to put the rounds right in the 10-ring without the imprecision of changing where you hold on target?

  4. Well for a range gun adjustable sights for using different ammo at the 25 yard range makes sense and to adjust for different ammo depending on if you are using light loads for bulls-eye shooting and then switching to something like IDPA were you have to make power factor makes sense. Adjustable sights will work for carry use,. it is just that I’m old fashioned.
Trying to find a 1911 with a forged frame and slide with the accessories the Springfield Range gun has will usually take you North of $1500 at least in my area. Which is why I’m shooting a RIA Tactical. Everybody and their dog buys up the Springfield 1911 GI’s and starts building on them so even when I could find one they were busting my budget on the asking price.

  5. hey, the frame says USA! i thought all springfield 1911s are make in Brazil, aren’t they?
if the gun has adjustable sights, can you just change it to fix sight? please tell me, thank you.
