Kel-Tec P-11

So I picked up a Kel-Tec P-11 today.  I honestly don’t know why, but had to.  The size and weight make for an attractive Sub-Compact, as is the 9mm caliber… being a much better defense option that the ever popular (but I don’t know why) .380.   I have yet to test fire it, but I did clean and examine it and it looks fine.  If I have any problems, I can send it back to KT for them to go through it.   Lifetime Warranty makes any Kel-Tec a safe bet, and they stand behind their guns.

I’ll detail strip it down, Slipstream it, and then test fire the crap out of it.  If I like it at that point – it will remain in the Ogre Inventory.  If I decide I don’t like it, I’ll sell it or trade it.

  1. I’ve owned 3 Keltec P-11s and they all worked well for me. The few problems I did have were traced back to aftermarket mags.

  2. I love my P-11, it goes everywhere with me. I carry it more than anything else in my arsenal.

  3. So I cleaned it up, Slipstreamed it, and popped some rounds through it.
    Huh.
    Not bad.
    Not bad at all.
Long trigger pull, but it’s smooth and consistent.
The reset is long, but on a DAO – Who gives a flip? Same guys would rip a S&W 686 for the same thing. “Feh, Long trigger reset – thing sucks!”
I was able to deliver very good hits with a decent balance of speed and accuracy, in a gun that feels like an empty water pistol. 10 rounds of full power 9mm and it hides like it doesn’t want to be found.
    I like it.

  4. I bought mine to be a pocket gun, and it has quickly become one of my favorites period. It fires whatever I feed it, and while the trigger is a bit stiff, that’s good for riding in my pocket, and I had no problem in shooting. With it, I can make a 20 oz. soda bottle dance around the berm at fifteen yards in rapid fire. I got mine, along with several boxes of ammunition, for under $300, taxes included. In addition to all of that, the Kel-Tec P-11 will take a fifteen round Smith and Wesson M 59 magazine.

The Kel-Tec is just about ideal as a 9mm or pocket handgun.

  5. Why the P-11 and not the PF-9? The PF is single stack, flatter and smaller than my Kahr 9094 and a bit lighter. Now I’m in the land of Spandex and shorts, and Kel-tec is located a bit south of me and pocket concealment is a necessity.

Who knows K-T has it’s ups and downs.

  6. Ogre, you guys got any Kahr CM9s yet? Those have me interested. Basically a PM9 but w/o the $220 extra magazine (according to jeff at gunblast). No really, it has a less expensive barrel and sights but other than that, supposed to be the same gun.

    1. Nope… only CW9’s and 40’s. Sometimes a P series. They don’t bring in the PM-9’s CM’s or the others. Don’t know why. Price point probably… but the PM-9’s are the most popular Kahr model nationwide. So the CM’s would fly off the shelf. I’d have ordered those first time I heard about them.
