Union Twinkies

I just read that the Union Boss is blaming Mitt Romney because Hostess shut down.
I can’t fathom the depths of stupidity illustrated here.  The level of ignorance is shocking.
We have a downward plunging economy. A gigantic tax hike in the form of health care, pushed on them by the President they undoubtedly supported.  Increased costs on everything.  And fewer customers because they can’t afford luxury snacks.  Not to mention the fact the First Lady has been preaching against them.  And instead of looking for ways to save the company… which was already in bankruptcy… They pushed past what the company said they couldn’t do…
And it’s Mitt Romney’s fault?
The Union Workers there need to realize that their Union has betrayed them and sold them a bill of bad goods.
All unions have.
Stuff that used to be made in America is now made overseas because of Government Regulations and Unions.  And we just reelected a big supporter of both.  So don’t be surprised when we see more and more layoffs.

  1. We knew this was coming it was written on the walls years ago The Government as an entity not just any one person is the problem They have been steadily dumbing down our children so the new voting population can be easily bought and quickly swayed by advertising heck don’t ya know if its on the internet it must be true ( LOL) They will continue to lay blame anywhere they can so it is not on them to admit their mistakes. In a society where we learn more about patreaouses (sp) affair in a days time than we have learned about what happened to the four men who died weeks ago now says alot . You reap what you sow educate your children don’t expect the schools to do it . Lay low and watch everything its gonna get bumpy real soon 🙁

    1. Teaching punctuation wouldn’t happen to be part of this “dumbing down”, would it?

      Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

  2. While BUSHBama is by no means innocent, he is but one cheek of the same ass ….

Am I the ONLY person who READ “Atlas Shrugged”?
Romney and Ryan are NON PRODUCTIVE LOOTERS.
They are the “financier” villains of the book …. and real life.
ROMNEOCON was never a Businessman he was always a money-manipulator.
John Galt and the Heroes were PRODUCERS who CREATED VALUE for the JOY of CREATING.
Money was a byproduct of their creativity.
These two are the PARASITES who
got rich by manipulating markets and being “in the know”.
Furthermore, they glorify the military AND religion, BOTH activities despised by Ayn Rand.
John Galt would have SPIT on them both.

I never understand why people think Reagan was a great conservative? He was the first of the ANTI-cons aka neocons. Reagan started us on the slide of debt-death, preferring to use “credit cards” to hide his excess spending and shove the inflation/debt onto coming generations. Reagan waged war on the Working People of America (1)Launching the war with his attack on unionization, firing the air-traffic controllers and (2) Introducing the concepts of low paid part-time and contract workers. Remember how Henry Ford introduced the concept that if you paid your people enough money, they would/could buy the products they were building? Well Reagan destroyed that concept, and brought us HERE, to THIS economic crash. Reagan was no “hero” who destroyed Communism. Reagan was a coward who HID the fact that the USSR was dead on it’s feet and collapsing. Reagan created fear in the People to get support for a wasteful looting of the Public Treasury by the Military Industrial Thieves. Finally, Reagan, the week after leaving office, ran over to Japan to collect at LEAST $6MILLION in “speaking fees” which was a nice term for BRIBE for keeping our markets open to the Japanese, and thus SELLING OUT American Workers. No, Reagan was not a great man, he was a Low Life Credit Card spendthrift.
And another thing — america became a war mongering state on the day that an all volunteer military (another Reagan screwup) became a reality, in the aftermath of the VN war. Thus ensuring more riches for the WAR PROFITEERS

The four biggest liars w.r.t. the economy over the past 32 years are Reagan, Greenspan, GW Bush and Bernanke. They are the most responsible for the current economic problems because the consumption-debt build up took off in mid-1980s and continues to this day primarily because of bad tax policies.

  3. Ohhh guess who wants a bailout. There is a online petition for the Pootus to save Hostess. Anyone want to bet which of these petitions get attention from the office of the prez. Ho ho’s or states wanting to leave the union? I can see it now, Government cheese and government Twinkies given away soon? I think they should have just moved their bakeries to “Right to work” states and told the bloated labor unions to sit and spin.

  4. Talked to a guy today that was just laid off from Hostess and he paints a different picture. He had this to say:

“Well, I’m one of the 18,000 that lost their job today.

The union may have finished them off, but it certainly wasn’t their fault. This business has been poorly run for over 10 years. This is their second time in bankruptcy in 3 years! Their executives gave themselves huge pay raises last July (CEO 300%, others more than 80% pay raises). At that time they had already hired bankruptcy lawyers.

I know Rayburn wants to blame the unions, but how long do you really think Hostess would have stayed open if it weren’t for the strike? A week? A month? Come on, if they can’t withstand a one week strike by 1/3 of their employees, they were done anyway. The strike was just a convenient thing to blame the failing company on.”

    1. Maybe this company was poorly run but the union never helped it. Unions have only hurt this country for the past 80 years and unions are a major tool in the Communist Party’s tool chest. If you don’t beleive me go to the CPUSA and read it straight from the horses mouth. These guys are not hiding their agenda. Read it, they explain their objectives, tools and goals and they are getting everthing they want from the voters in this country. And yes, the Communist Party of the United States endorsed Obama. They have never endorsed a Republican or Libertarian.
This country is only going to get ” less free ” from here on out.

    2. sounds like you could substitue goverment employes for hostess employes and congress/white house for hostess co. and get a good idea where we are headed.

    3. So the patient clearly has health problems, was a glutton and a hard drinker, and this ex-employee didn’t want to blame the metastasized cancer that killed the patient, but the potential heart attack that might have happened sometime?

Sure, there were different potential ways the company could have folded, but the actual cause was the union strike.

      1. Apparently they had taken something like a 15-20% cut a few years ago. I am not saying the union is blameless, but that there may be more to this situation than just their idiocy.

  5. Well, I read an article where the Teamsters are blaming the Bakers Union. They were both shown the books, and the Teamsters agreed to the pay cut. Think about that. If the Teamsters were willing to take a pay cut to save their jobs, what does that say about the idiots in the Bakers Union?

  6. Think of how much better Hostess would have done this comming year. Two or three more states will have the munchies. It may have paid for the worker’s raise AND the CEO’s raise.

Little Debbie will make out on this deal, just like she has over the last few cost compeditive years!

  7. They’ve had a couple of posts over at ZeroHedge.com on this. To over simplify, the company got bailed in return for equity in a prior bankruptcy by a guy who had connections with the Teamsters. Then he got a couple of other companies that do distressed businesses bail outs to come in for equity stakes. So you ended up with a nice complex four way fluster cluck. Teamsters (Daly)vs. Bakers Union (Trumka) vs three different funds one of which wanted to keep trying and the other two said enough we’ll take our loss, liquidate and we’ll get our pennies on the dollar millions, but the court puts us in front and it sucks to be you.
Meanwhile companies are moving out of closed shop state to open shop states, that is the ones that can afford to move.

  8. It’s Romney’s fault because he lost. If he had won and granted waivers to all 50 states (or repealed) Obamacare, Hostess might have survived.

Ok, that’s probably not the teamster position (I didn’t read the original article), but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

  9. Last week I was having a discussion with an acquaintance about the Federal Gov. in general. My stand was, the Federal Government has to be smaller. It should be focused on providing for our national defense, and dealing with US interests overseas and with international issues. The Feds should be looking outward, not inward. The States should be taking a bigger role in managing their own affairs, rather than staying on the Federal money tit. Health care, disaster management, HHS, etc. should not be the raole of the USG. The USG has managed to get control over a huge area of daily life for Americans through exploitation of interstate commerce laws, and exploiting the greed of local politicians that will sell their souls for some federal money.

This country needs a big, huge button labelled “RESET”. We are doomed.

  10. “Can’t afford snacks”? Really? I wish I had a dollar for every time I watched an EBT card get swiped for a basket full of snack food and instant this and pre-cooked that while I know that the same money you pay for a pack of Twinkies will get you enough dried beans to feed a family of four.
