Newt

I’m going to have to rethink my support for Herman Cain.  A couple patsy girls was one thing.  But I’m starting to think the continual influx of girls coming forward might be an indication of a pattern of behavior that was perfectly fine for Bill Clinton, but totally off limits for a Republican… those are the Rules of the Game as set forth by The Media.  I still like Cain, that’s not the problem.  My problem is that I fear he is not – at this moment in time – as electable of a candidate as we want.  He’s being stereotyped as the black guy wanting to know where all the white women are at.  This is how they have to attack Cain, because they are unable to challenge him on Ideas.  Unfortunately these are attacks that go through any defense… Just the accusation is damaging enough to end a campaign.  Shady realestate deals are one thing… but a Man that might be interested in Women?  Oh dear… only Democrats can be interested in intimate adult heterosexual relationships.  Remember the Media’s defense of Clinton?  “It’s only sex.  None of our business.”  Or maybe Cain’s mistake was not having the State Police deliver the Hoochies to him. Oh wait, only Governors can do that.  As regrettable as it is, I think Cain’s pretty much done now.  Maybe he can pull off a Hail Marry, maybe not.  But I’d like to see Cain win the Nomination still… but I can’t see that happening now.

So this leaves us with what’s now looking like a Romney Gingrich race.   Newt is certainly the smartest man in the room at the Debates.  Newt knows the game very well, understands the process.  Sure, he’s Old School Established GOP… A continuation of the Machine that none of us are really happy with… but he made a very good point that is very true.  He is the most Conservative.  Looking at the Words and Deeds of the other Candidates Past, (Meaning Romney and Perry because Cain is pretty much now through) Newt nailed them to the wall.  The think I like about Newt is that he doesn’t care what you think.  You are going to get Newt’s direct opinion with less filtration.  You know he’s old school GOP and he doesn’t hide it.  The other guys do too… but are acting like they are not and Romney and Perry are both far less Conservative than I like.

One concern about Mitt Romney I heard on the radio and was not addressed.  “Well, if he becomes the President, how can he be protected if he goes in a Mormon Temple?  Because only Mormons can go in.”  Correction, only Mormons that meet certain standards – the highest standards, can go in.  The answer is that there are such Mormons who are in the US Secret Service, and they could go in with the President.  Also, the LDS Church has it’s own Secret Service equivalent that I will not talk about, but they are there, and they would be working in cooperation with the US.S.S… with the result that Mitt would be doubly protected.  This isn’t an issue at any level, but it does bug the hell out of the Liberal Media because they would be unable to get photographers and reporters in the temple to hound him in a place of worship he (and us Mormons) consider most sacred.  (I have worked with the LDS Church’s team – and it was a great honor that I will never forget.  I turned down full time employment as I would have been required to shave my goatee.  This would be like asking me to cut off an arm.  Couldn’t do it.)

While Newt might not be our favorite choice… a Newt Presidency wouldn’t be a bad thing.  He brings a lot of experience to the table… Wouldn’t that be refreshing?  Newt knows how to get things done and wouldn’t sit around blaming Bush, ATM Machines, or Swamp Gas. And he really is the more Conservative, like it or not.  And that would be a fantastic think to have in the White House.

  1. My problem with Romney is not that he’s a Mormom but that he’s a Yankee. One commentator summed it up for me when he said Mitt wants to be liked but Newt wants to be respected. All the Republican candidates have slimed a lot both recently and over the years. I kind of wish Mitt was from Utah or some Western or Mid-Western state. I worry that the perception of Newt that has been played by the MSM over the years may damage his electability in the general election. I think old fumble tongue Perry is better than portrayed also. I don’t think Perry can win the nomination now, but I hope he keeps running to call attention to the crimes of Helicopter Bernake, the EPA, and that thing Ken Salazar. We really, really, need to ramp up oil production and get busy on Nuke plants to east a transition to an electric transportation system.

  2. Let the RINO games begin.

I’m not playing this time. Newt gets us to the same endpoint as Obama.

I’ll vote third party or write in even if it means Obama, because it makes the endgame come that much quicker. Why not get on with it since nobody is serious about fixing our number one national security issue, which is the Debt.

Ron Paul or Michelle Bachman so far. They won’t win so get ready for four more years of Obama or some RINO which gives us the same Goals

I’m sick of voting for RINO’s.

Obama has escalated war and is a nation builder, just like Bush, just like Newt.
Obama wants to ruin coal electricity, so does Newt.
Obama believes in AGW, so does Newt.
Obama is for amnisty for Mexicans, so is Newt.
Obama won’t reach accross the aisle, Newt will.
Obama wants to spend. Newt wants a balanced budget that does NOTHING to solve our debt problem. Status quo no longer works when you can’t reduce the debt. The spending will continue especially with a Hawk and pro greeny Newt in the Whitehouse.

Piss on Newt. He is not the same man. Don’t tell me about his flip flop positions. Been there, done that and I won’t get fooled again.

Let’s get a real constitutionalist in the Whitehouse that will take steps to screw this nationbuilding B.S., bring the troops home, reduce the debt, audit/end the Fed, move back to a gold standard which is the only thing that will put us back on the path our forefathers intended.

I see zero difference between Obama and Newt.

  3. For all the pissing and moaning I hear about Obama, DHS and TSA, well you can thank your big government RINO Bush for creating those two departments stuffed full of DFL employees voting DFL for YOU to pay their retirement pensions and healtcare packages. TSA will unionize.

Bush signed into law the first Stimulus, which Newt supported.

Meet the new Boss, same as the old Boss.

  4. You do know that Obama’s body count for the troops has exceeded Bush right?

Bush grew the budget by 2 Trillion in eight years. Obama doubled it in three.

    Obama is Bush on steriods.

    GOP=DFL.

One wants to destroy us on the four year plan while the other wants us wiped out tomorrow. I see no difference in this.

  5. Sing it db. Another point; the fact that Cain has received this much attention is ridiculous. He is not even close to being electable. If I was a republican I would be outraged that he is stealing the spotlight. Go away Cain, America is moving on.

  6. June: Rick Perry becomes the front runner, Ogre proclaims “Rick Perry is our Top Pick”.

November 8th: Following Perry’s slow fade into inconsequentiality Cain breaks into the lead. Ogre says “Cain is my man”.

November 29th: After Cain’s campaign self-destructs Newt emerges as the media darling. Ogre’s take? “And that would be a fantastic think [sic] to have in the White House”.

    Nothing too original here.

    1. Would kinda be stupid to maintain support for someone who’s campaign has fallen apart so completely. I’m just looking at the front runners and trying to see who the best is. We gotta have some fun with this… It’s going to be a long year.

  7. Newt was my congresscritter growing up, and I really liked the contract with America. But his personal life is just too lecherous for me to be able to support him now. His support of bailouts, stimulus, and AGW cast a lot of doubt in my mind on his claim to be conservative.

Rick Santorum, even Michele Bachmann are looking better all the time. Of course I registered as a Republican (probably temporarily) just so I could cast my primary vote for Ron Paul.

  8. They are all the same. Unfortunately Ron is not electable, but at least his opinion is heard. Only honest one in the line-up, and that’s why he will never win. Disagree intently that you think Newt tells it like it is… Got paid by Fanny Mae 1.6M! And he lied about it in the debate. You think Barney should be in jail? He should have a cell mate then. Look up hypocrite and you will find Newt and rest of his ilk staring up at you.

Cain is not in it for the presidency, he just wants a tv show on Fox. And Perry lost his ass up pack saddle pass.

I see this line-up similar to when Bob Dole won the nomination. Yup – it’s four more years…

    1. Correct. Ron Paul is not electable…yet.

As Ogre said, it’s going to be a long year…not exactly because caucuses start in January.

THAT is when the shit starts hitting the fan and winnows out the wheat from the chaff.

Ron Paul has won EVERY SINGLE straw poll in every debate state so far. He even won a CNN poll so lopsided during the debate that they pulled it down before the debate was over on the claim that the poll was hacked, but wouldn’t supply the proof.

I still have hope. If Paul emerges with an early lead, they will have to then give him more time during debate and I assure you, he will devistate anybody in the top three with equal time.

This is the reason some states are being penalized delegates at the convention for caucusing early telling the GOP establishment to pound sand. They are tired of having their RINO’s picked for them by the GOP and MSM establishment. Rumor is, these are Ron Pual/Bachman friendly states.

      We’ll see.

At least Bachman single handedly held off and delayed and stymied the vote on Obammacare time and again when nobody else had the balls to do the heavy lifting, even to the point of bucking the GOP leadership. End result, Obamacare passed, but WITHOUT one single GOP vote. DFL owns it wholesale and you can thank Bachman, the only one in the trenches, rallying massive Tea Party crowds in DC not once, but TWICE, scaring the shit out of the GOP establishment.

      God Bless her soal!

      1. The only reason Ron Paul isn’t electable, is that the folks who should be supporting him, are busy saying that he’s not electable. It will be a self-fulfilling prophecy, if they decide to let it.

Paul is the only candidate who can reliably beat Obama. He can draw the anti-war crowd who Obama has completely turned his back on. Yet, he’s also stated that, if Congress declares war, he (as Commander-in-Chief) would prosecute that war to the fullest extent, then bring the troops home, so he can still please those who want a strong America.

He’s the only one who can reliably bead Obama. A primary vote for anyone but Ron Paul, is the same as just walking in and voting for Obama, in November.

  9. I’m a huge Cain supporter. Of all the ones I’d like to see get elected, it’s Cain. But, his campaign is in complete disarray. Marc Block is an idiot who should have been canned long before the first girl came out. The girls don’t bother me because it seems like they all fit a pattern and that pattern seems to be pretty transparent. What bothers me is the way they handle it and how unresponsive the campaign seems to be to anything. In a day and age where the grassroots candidate should be like a lightning strike, they’re like an iceberg. Their website is still horrible even after the supposed upgrade. What’s stupid is that you could have 20 tech nerds doing this stuff for free. But nothing. It’s like Block and Cain are doing it all out the back of the bus. It won’t fly. Let me be clear in saying. I LOVE WHAT NEWT SAYS DURING THE DEBATES. His positions are so spot on and beautiful. The problem is am I going to believe a debating Newt or Newt’s previous actions. If debating Newt was the true Newt, then I wouldn’t have any problem with him. In fact, he’d be better than Reagan at communicating our view points. But we all know that the Pelosi couch, DeeDee Scosafava loving Newt is the real Newt. We just don’t WANT to believe it. So our fickle electorate is standing up with their fingers in their ears saying NAHANAHANAH I CAN’T HEAR YOU. Ready to bolt to the next candidate in line. Seems as if America really doesn’t have long left when even the Republicans are American Idolized.

    1. Hey Doc,

Confession. I LOVE listining to Newt too. He is the master debater no doubt. Very appealing. One on one with Paul, I think Paul will kick the pins out from under Newt with the technicals, where Newt is lacking.

One on One, I think Paul wins that fight. Newts charm can’t defeat Constitutional truth and nobody understands it better than Dr. Paul.

The clarity of our forefathers words, even comimg out of the mouth of Paul, will cut throught fog, smoke and mirrors.

The words of the Framers will lift Ron above the noise. That is my hope and prayer.

Wait and see, there is still time.

That being said, God bless everyone here who votes otherwise for whatever reason. I know you all are sick of our current President and want something better.

In that, I salute you all.

  10. Ron Paul Statement On The Fed’s Bailout Of Europe
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 11/30/2011 13:04 -0500

    From Ron Paul

Statement on the Fed’s Continued Euro Bailout

The Fed’s latest actions in cooperating with foreign central banks to undertake liquidity swaps of dollars for foreign currencies is another reason why Congress needs enhanced power to oversee and audit the Fed. Under current law Congress cannot examine these types of agreements. Those who would argue that auditing the Fed or these agreements with central banks harms the Fed’s independence should reevaluate the Fed’s supposed independence when the Fed bails out Europe so soon after President Obama promised US assistance in resolving the Euro crisis.

Rather than calming markets, these arrangements should indicate just how frightened governments around the world are about the European financial crisis. Central banks are grasping at straws, hoping that flooding the world with money created out of thin air will somehow resolve a crisis caused by uncontrolled government spending and irresponsible debt issuance. Congress should not permit this type of open-ended commitment on the part of the Fed, a commitment which could easily run into the trillions of dollars. These dollar swaps are purely inflationary and will harm American consumers as much as any form of quantitative easing.

The Fed is behaving much as it did during the 2008 financial crisis, only this time instead of bailing out politically well-connected too-big-to-fail firms it is bailing out profligate government spending. Citizens the world over deserve better than this. They deserve sound money that cannot be manipulated and created out of thin air by central planners who promise printed prosperity. Fiat money caused this European crisis and the financial crisis before it. More fiat money is not the cure. The global fiat currency system has proven itself a failure, we need real monetary reform. We need sound money.

(Refute what Paul has said here if you can – Dennis)

  11. The fed. Fiat currency. Euro. Newt is this. Paul is that. Bail out this, occupy that…..The list goes on, and on, and on. The simple truth folks is this, put your trust in yourself and your loved ones, not some politicians. Yes we need a Republican in the Whitehouse, vote for your favorite in the primary, but you darn well better vote (R) in the general. This country is headed downhill faster than a dixie chicks tourbus past the local VFW hall and only a Republican can put the brakes on, else get ready for the crash! Your choice. My credo is “triple B”. Beans, Bullets, and Bourbon. The beans are for me, the bullets for those who want my beans, and the bourbon for after to help settle my nerves. Ciao

  12. Newt is a coward who never served in the military and he stole at least 1.3 Million in US Taxpayer dollars when he was running his little lobby/payoff racket.

Cain, being a Navy Civilian mathematician, is not military service.

Romney is the only LDS member I know whose family has gone at least two generations without military service. Bush and Bush were military pilots, please no smart remarks about the National Guard.

That leaves me with Texas Governor Perry and Ron Paul.

    Geoff
Who would run for congress if he won a major lottery, otherwise I couldn’t sell out.

  13. I have a suggestion:

Let’s ignore the liberal press’s attempts to pick a candidate for us.

We can debate amongst ourselves who would be best, and then vote for his nomination. The press’s attempts to play dirty laundry games should be just ignored, until the 2012 election.

At that point, ALL of the nasty innuendo about Obama should be hammered on if they want to play this game, including Obama’s homosexual relationships while married.

  14. And on a similar note … the only thing about Clinton’s sexual behavior that I am really angry about was his lying to the American public on TV about it.

The proper response to press inquiries about bedroom behavior is a punch in the face and a demand to mind your own fucking business.

  15. George, dude, that is a lot of words. I like ’em.

I like Cain too. He is being hacked by somebody on “our” side, IMHO. The libturds would wait until October 2012 to drop crap like this. I don’t think he is the philanderer he is being lynched as, but like you I am torn. He is a good man, I’d fight with him, but they don’t like our black guys over there in the Dime Store Media. They will ruin him and his family if they have to.

As far as I can discern, Bachmann is not near as whacko as she is painted. She seems genuine but is hopeless. Mitt, I will vote for him but I will hold my nose. He bugs me somewhere in my gut. Newt, I’d love to see him on the stage with Obamalamadingdong doing that debate thing. But I don’t see it happening. Perry? Well we know he can use a handgun, but even us Texans don’t trust him all that much.

Bammy hadn’t even started spending his money yet, and when the hammer drops on all that … well we all better hold on to our horses because it will be Epic.

Anybody, an old catfood can, would be better than BHO. I’m down for the struggle, as Limbaugh would say. I’m fighting even if they put McLame in there again. Gyack – furball.

We all are gonna have to HTFU and fight. No choice, the Orcs are gonna be thick for the next year and we have to chop them to bits the way Gimli would.

    1. Nope, if it’s Romney, then Obama is actually the better choice.

Romney would do exactly what Obama is doing. You wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. But all the fallout from the current nonsense would end up blamed upon “those evil Republicans” (just like Bush inherited Clinton’s recession), and Romney would be a one-term president, with someone even worse than Obama replacing him.

If it’s down to Romney, then the long-term tactical advantage (winning the war, not the battle) comes from a strategic retreat that lets him crash and burn, so the electorate can see how badly his ideas fail. I’d rather someone who can fix it get elected, so we can show how well the free market works, rather than show how badly socialism fails (always better to be positive), but Romney can’t do that, while the media /will/ blame his failures on the “free market.”

Better four more years of Obama, than four years of Romney, followed by eight or more years of someone so socialist he makes Obama look like stalwart supporter of capitalism…

      1. I hear and understand what you are saying Flint, but I will have to respectfully disagree.

I want Obamalamadingdong gone, and I’ll vote for anybody but him. Hell, gimme Kinky Friedman over that guy, at least we could have a few laughs.

        1. “Anyone but Bush” is what got us Obama, despite the fact that even most Democrats didn’t want him.

We need to use better strategy than “anyone but Obama.” If he causes a crash, he should be in the hot seat for it. Romney would be better for the next four years, but who we’d get after would make Obama look good. I’m more concerned with what my kids and grandkids will have to deal with, than what the next four years will be like.

    1. Just watched the link. Ron Paul didn’t say America deserved the attacks. Bob Schieffer said Ron Paul said… but Ron Paul told him to his face that he was miscontruing his words.

People are so ready and willing to call our politicians dishonest, corrupt, and idiotic. But somehow their foreign policies are supposed to be held infallible? Surely there is nothing they have done to aggravate anti-american sentiment anywhere in the world! Look around at the aggravation they are causing here. Is it so hard to believe they might be causing aggravation elsewhere, where people don’t get to vote them out?

Watch it again. He didn’t say the attacks were America’s fault. He didn’t say we deserved it. He said the government policies influenced and contributed to it. Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

      1. Stop hassling folks with your silly little “facts,” okay? It’s very unfair to them, when they’ve been told what to think by the liberal media, and now here you come along, poking holes in their delusions…

  16. Oh and the fact that he’s an isolationist that thinks we can base our intire national defense on submarines…

      1. He’s not an isolationist, although this country needs a whole lot more of it.
You guys talk out both sides: We’re drowning in debt and need to make government smaller, or we need to be stationed in every country and police every conflict with our blood. Which is it?

        1. wow, when did i say that? You are so defensive you are putting words in my mouth. If you are going to comment, comment on what I said, not what you think I might be thinking. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, there is such a thing as a middle ground. Calm down.

          1. Well, I couldn’t comment on what you directly said because I don’t believe you meant what you said. So I had to infer your meaning and extrapolate…

I didn’t think you thought that Ron Paul was advocating the USA take up a position of say North Korea, or Myanmar or Burma, if you prefer. You see Isolationists tend to not trade with anyone, tend to be nasty authoritarian types. Ron Paul is not into that so much.

… and I didn’t think that you really believe that he wants us to base our national defense off of submarines, but you stated this all in fact. So in the end I tried to think about what you really were trying to say. Sounds like I missed the mark.

What you were saying is that it’s okay if we’re stationed in over half the world in a middling economy and half ass in debt.

    1. That isn’t what he said either. He said he thinks the submarine is a good weapon. And he also talked about some other weapon that can strike anywhere in the world within an hour.

  17. You guys are right, I concede. Pulling our military out of the rest of the world and slashing it’s budget is the right idea. It’s worked every other time we tried it…..oh wait….

    1. Anybody who has sworn an oath to defend the constitution needs to know that right now the greatest threat to our constitution and our liberty is the growth of government, also known as overspending.

I will concede that the military is the most worthwhile expense in the federal budget, and I believe Ron Paul would too. But that doesn’t mean it is impossible to waste money there.

One thing he has actually said is that he would cut 1 trillion from the budget in his first year. He is the champion of liberty. And that isn’t just a slogan.

    1. Oh each candidate is flawed, and I’d rather not pick any cards from this hand. But this is the hand that we have been delt. No Aces.
