My first book

I’ve completed my first book. It’s somewhere between 700-800 pages. 151333 words. I still have to edit it, clean some things up, continuity, and throw in some back stories to some characters… and it’ll be ready to publish. But the book as a whole is done.
After my first editing pass, I’m going to send it out to a small handful of volunteer readers.

  1. George, I’d love to go over a copy.

I’ve been working on my own projects for a while now, and the chance to see someone who has put their entire work together would be great.

So if you need some constructive eyes, just let me know.

  2. Heavens Mr. Ogre Sir,

If you are looking for a volunteer reader I would to humbly offer my services. (more groveling?)

  3. Never mind, I seem to be barely able to type a coherent email/reply……feeling extra goofy now, swell.

  4. Congratulations! Don’t give up trying to get it published!
It seems dang hard to get your foot in the door, but it took both vince flynn and stephen king years to get one through, rejection after rejection, and they almost gave up!

I’d happily read it if you need readers!

  5. George, if it is as good as what has been put up in the Uprising threads… you will have a market for it.
I seriously enjoy your work there.
If you need readers, I would love to have a look at it.
But reading it as I would if I had purchased it, I would hope you would welcome criticism or suggestions.

    Jim

  6. I would love to help but since I’m about 90,000 words into my own book my time is limited. Good luck though.

  7. Oh well, in that case as my book has intergalactic zombies in monk’s robes, mercenary intergalactic contractors and a Seattle Medical Examiner detective with a 10mm and a hot rich blond with a PPK I am most assuredly enthusiastically in the front of the line. Trade Ya.

  8. I love your writing, George! I really got into the “Privateer” posts a while back over at We the Armed. Congrats on a major accomplishment. Mad props!

  9. George,
Hire yourself an editor. Run a couple of books, get decent cover art. Then open with $0.99 on Kindle and follow up with two at 2.99.

Who notes this is a popular marketing ploy in Kindle publishing.

      1. George,
        Beware the Contract!
You can sign your life away!

Who knows some local folks who regret going the dead tree route.
