A good point…

Last week on Armed American Radio, during the Round Table, we talked about possible civil unrest and Police and Federal Agents coming down hard on US Citizens all Jackboot Style.
I said that I have a lot of friends who are law enforcement officers, and agents of Homeland Security that I’ve met are all on our side.  Rob Pincus was also in agreement and doesn’t believe we are heading into Civil War.  Rob is a very level headed guy, a real “Stay Calm and Think” person.
Then the other guest on the Round Table, from Oregon Firearms Federation,  Kevin Starrett, made a good point.  “I remember Wacko and Ruby Ridge.”

That’s been bugging me ever since.  Under my skin.  Clawing at the back of my brain.

Wacko.

Ruby Ridge.

I want to live in an America where I can trust my Government. I don’t know when exactly it all changed… But that 50’s America where we just came through a dark time and everything was Light and Achievement. I believe that was our Golden Age. And it’s all lost. Now we are back in darkness… but we are not fighting Nazis “Over there”. The dark shadow over us is our own Government… A boot that’s coming down on our face…

  1. Couple things to remember about Kevin Starret: He tends to be extreme in his language and he loves to talk people into following his interpretation of gun laws but isn’t necessarily there to help defend them when they are arrested for following his advice. The man is sometimes more harmful than helpful.

  2. From my own experiences with armed govermental authority, both good and bad, I believe when/if it comes down to cases a majority of officers/troops will mutiny. Oppressing Americans is not what most of these guys signed up for.

    1. Except history, even in this country seems to contradict that hopeful attitude.
Military and Police folks though maybe good at heart, primarily follow orders.
Even yes to fire upon their own country men, to the tune of 600,000 + killed in the last civil war. And the police kill folks every day (not saying its not justified, simply pointing out that those folks killed by the police are by and large their countrymen, often or usually from their home town)

And remember if it happens, the side not the US government will be portrayed as terrorists and anti-American, anti-Freedom etc. etc. by all the propaganda outlets available to the establishment. How many are going to be discerning enough to cut through the BS?

I don’t expect should the Bad Thing happen, that the threepers or whoever would be getting all that much support from the people in the armed branches of government.

      1. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. We know how this plays out. It is absolutely essential that we keep up the pressure and educate everyone we know. Unless “the royal family and their nobles” are completely convinced that a significant percentage of the population will actually go the distance and sacrifice everything because we would rather live free or die, they will not delay overt advancement of the collectivist agenda they’ve been pushing for decades. We seem to be faced with two choices: either commit to determined insistence that we will not tolerate additional infringement of our rights and demand restoration of what has been lost already in order to avoid a shooting war, or passively submit to having our rights stripped away and become subjects instead of citizens.

  3. Even in New York State local sherrifs are giving both the feds and the governor the finger over gun control.

    1. Sheriffs are voted in by relatively small numbers of voters only needs a small number of highly motivated to call for recall or vote out.

  4. In terms of Ruby Ridge and Waco, I think it is important to consider the reaction. There was enough outrage and scrutiny (though, not as much as there should have been) that subsequent incidents were met with more restraint. I also think that the .gov is going to have to be more restrained because they know that they will have a lot harder time spinning it or covering it up.

On the other hand, if either of those incidents happened 40+ years ago, I doubt we would have heard anything resembling the truth.

  5. Recent study indicated that over half of the staffing at the Pentagon now support nearly without question the policies of the Junta controling the White House. The Junta keeps replacing postitions within the military at all levels with its own supporters and those willing to support anything they are told to by money, career ops and promotions….bad sign

  6. At all levels Sulaco?

General Officers are political critters and ratified by congress I will grant you. But the selection process below full bird is pretty much the byzantine adminsitrative beast of their service that it has always been, which is remarkably resistant to change or influence by anyone. There isnt much for the adminsitration to influence.

  7. The non-commisioned officers mafia is alive and well. Also an administration that puts its trust in “political” officers will find that the political type is just as prone to lie as they are. That is you can’t trust them not to turn on the administrationif it thinks it will advantage them, they may decide to paint themselves as patriotic heros and have administration officials taking long naps in deep pits.

  8. It is good to be level headed, always. I also remember Waco, where dozens of women and children who were not charged with any crime were burned alive by federal agents and special forces troops (the troops part not proven). I also remember Ruby Ridge, where a woman and a child who were not charged with any crime were murdered by a sniper in cold blood. I also remember that during “good faith” negotations between the Reno justice department and the family of Elian Gonzalez, US troops kidnapped the child from his guardians at gunpoint and returned him to a Communist dictatorship against his will. These things will be under my skin forever.

  9. Flag grade officers are appointed, guess by whom? Command grade serve at the pleasure of the flag officers. It’s a system with its current crop of “perfumed princes” that have never gotten their uniforms dirty are in charge and make the decisions that all of the chain on down have to obey. As with the recent killing of a US Ambassador the command grade officers that objected to the orders to leave them to die or made any public comment were replaced. It’s a slow but sure process that will leave us, if/when the time comes a military commanded by those loyal to the Junta not the people of the US. My personal near belief is that the Obamunist does not plan to leave office, period. Hey it worked for his BFF Chavies……

  10. OK Elian Gonzalez. Whether I agree with it or not, a decision was made reference the proper custody of the boy by a court who had that jurisdiction to decide. That decision was made, due process was done and the family in Miami were told what that decision was. There were multiple appeals and process lasting MONTHS, finally on April 13th the AG stated categorically that the boy must be returned. The miami relatives chose to not give up custody as they were required to. At that point they became the kidnappers. They were still given until 22 April (nearly 10 days) and they didnt. At that point he was removed from the house. What the hell are “troops” by the way? Border Patrol agents wearing helmets and goggles to protect themselves from thrown objects sounds prudent. No balaclavas, no masks. SMGs were prudent considering the number of people on the property and previous defiant speech.

You might not agree with the decisions made by the judges involved, but if a judge ruled your ex’s family had to give your kid back to you and they didnt, what would you have the government do if the family just said “no, to hades with the law you just cant have him”?

I disliked Clinton and Reno in the extreme and have no use for the Democratic party…but not every event that has ever happenned fits neatly into a narrative about how bad they were.

  11. Just because some leftest in a black robe says so does not make it just. The current “system” is a joke and a lie. If the founders were still here they would be shooting already.

  12. Ok, pertinent laws.

Cubans who come to the US by whatever method and ask for asylum are granted it, but they must petition for it and they must reach the US. Elian’s mother died before she could ask for asylum. At that point the court ruled that legal custody of the child passed to the father. This is in keeping with both US and Cuban law. The court further ruled that even if the father was not in the US he could petition for asylum for Elian. He instead wanted him returned to his custody. Elian was in his mother’s custody as part of a normal divorce proceeding and there is no reason his custody would not have passed to his father in the even of her death had she died in Cuba in say an auto accident.

While all this was being adjudicated, temporary custody of Elian was granted to his great uncle (closest relative who was a US resident). The great uncle wanted to petition for Elian’s asylum. However Elian’s legal guardian was judged to be his father (both US and Cuban precedent) and the great uncle could not make that decision for the boy. Additionally the precedent of Polovchak vs. Meese did not apply (a case where parents were trying to compel a 17 year old boy to return to the Soviet Union with them) since Elian was too young (7 years old) to consent to asylum himself.

Unless disliking Cuba’s government is more important than following our own laws…

  13. “I want to live in an America where I can trust my Government.”

I’m fond of saying that the difference between the left and the right is that the right trusts the people, the left trusts the government.

I get what you’re saying, but never, ever, trust the government.

  14. And, yes, right – if you have a disagreement with the fed, the best way for them to handle it is just send in the troops. And what dictatorship do you hail from? What I am referring to by troops are the ones in full combat gear with select fire weapons – surely you didn’t miss that part, Mr. Perfect Recall?

  15. I should know better than to reply to defenders of Reno, et al. All of you who think that the Gonzalez situation was OK – you are welcome to the country you’ve helped create. My apologies to the community.

  16. threats to not give the boy back and resist in media interviews…the operation was conduct in and around a large crowd that could have been hostile (and apparently was later).

The entry team was so armed and equipped, but most of the other participants in the raid were in raid jackets, including the agent that took physical custody of Elian from the raid team and actually carried him to the vehicle. Seems prudent and by procedure. Long arms seem prudent in a situation of heightened tension and risk, would you feel better if they had been semi-auto only AR-15s instead of SMGs?

Why name calling? If you want to argue than argue. I am sea lawyer because I look at a situation and make my own assessment? Am I just supposed to say “A democratic administration” or “any administration” was in charge” so automatically I have to assume “X.” It involves a communist country or someone had a select fire weapon so the government must be wrong? As I said, if you want to argue use some argumentation. Are you saying the law was wrong (if so why), the raid should have been conducted differently (if so how)?, should a court ruling just not be enforced? What precisely are you saying?

  17. “The Honorable Senator John Cornyn, State of Texas
    United States Senate
    517 Hart Senate Office Building
    Washington, D.C. 20510

Re: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and that agencies preparation for war against citizens of the United States of America

    Dear Senator Cornyn,

It is with gravest concern that I write to you today concerning the recent appropriation of weapons by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that can only be understood as a bold threat of war by that agency, and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America. To date, DHS has been unwilling to provide to you, the elected representatives of the People, justification for recent purchases of almost 3,000 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) armored personnel carriers, 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition (with associated weapons), and other weapons systems, when, in fact, the DHS has no war mission or war making authority within the limits of the United States of America.

Significant is the fact that at the same time the Obama administration is arming his DHS for war within the limits of the United States against the People of the United States in accordance with his 2008 campaign speech claiming,

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve gotta (sic) have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded [as the United States military]”–Candidate Barack Obama, 2008.

The Obama administration is deliberately defunding, overextending, and hollowing the Department of Defense; the only legitimate agency of the U.S. government with a war mission.

This act of the Obama administration stands as a glaring threat of war against our nation’s citizens! This act of the Obama administration can only be understood as a tyrannical threat against the Constitution of the United States of America! If left unresolved, the peace loving citizens who have sworn to defend the United States Constitution “against all enemies, both foreign and domestic” are left no option except to prepare to defend themselves, and the U.S. Constitution, against this Administration’s “coup” against the People and the foundations of liberty fought for and defended for the past 238 years. We have no choice if we honor our oaths.

The only proper response to this threat against the American people is for the representatives of the People, the members of the U.S. House and Senate, to demand in clear terms that the Administration cannot ignore, that the Department of Homeland Security immediately surrender their newly appropriated weapons of war to the Department of Defense (DoD). Further, since the DHS has assumed a position in the Administration to enforce the tyrannical acts of this president against the People of the United States against the limits of the United States Constitution, it remains for the United States Congress to exercise its limiting power in the balancing of powers established by our founding fathers, to disestablish and dissolve the DHS as soon as possible. One needs only to look to the rise of Adolf Hitler, and his associated DHS organizations, the SA and the SS, of 1932-1934, to see the outcome of allowing an agency of government this kind of control over the free citizens of a nation. The people of Germany could not have imagined, until it was too late, the danger of allowing a tyrant this kind of power. We must not be so naïve as to think it will not happen to us as well if we remain passive toward this power grab by the Marxist Obama administration!

Finally, for more than two centuries the nation has lived in peace at home because of the protections of our legitimate military and the many appropriate state and federal law enforcement agencies, supported by Constitutional courts. We stand today at a cross-road. Will we allow this present Administration to overthrow our United States Constitution and its legal processes to amend injustices, or, will we honor our obligations to defend the Constitution against a “domestic” enemy? Our Constitution lays out the proper methods of resolving our differences; and it does not include its overthrow by a rogue agency of a Marxist leadership at home. You, sir, are our constitutionally elected agent to defend our Constitution at home. We are counting upon you. We remain aware, however, of this present threat and will not expose ourselves as an easy prey to the authors of the destruction of our nation.

I know that this letter demands much of you. We elected you because we, the citizens of the State of Texas, believe that you are up to the task at hand and will, against all threats, honor your oath and office. We are also writing to your fellow members of the House and Senate to stand in integrity with the Constitution and against this present threat by the Obama administration and his DHS.

We refuse to surrender our Constitution or our nation!

    Resolved,

    Captain Terry M. Hestilow
    United States Army, Retired
    Fort Worth, Texas
    March 23, 2013”

    1. Good letter; however, I expect it will fall on deaf ears and you will receive a standard template response from his staff stating they are working dilligently and appreciate your input as an active citizen in partnership with him.

Had you enclosed a 10,000 check, the you MIGHT receive a different response.
