Crashed.

Could have been a lot worse… Motorcycling is dangerous.  It’s also one of the most wonderful things Mankind could ever do.  Good riding gear makes all the difference.    I had a little incident.  Speed was not involved and I wasn’t squidding.

Scrapes, Bruises, Twisted knee, bruised ribs, and maybe a broken wrist… But I’m fine.  I’ll ride again ASAP.  When you ride – always wear your gear.  Even if you are just going around the block… wear your gear.

  1. George, I surely would never be an ass to the Mad Ogre, but there are some of us, badass as we are/were, who should be in enclosed vehicles.

I’m just glad you are not hurt in serious fashion. I know we have both been there.

Buy a facking Mini Cooper and let the two wheeler go, bro.

    Flamesuit ON!

      1. Good on ya mate.

I ride two wheelers with me as the motor. I own 9 bicycles and have been riding hard for nearly 40 years. Yeah, it ain’t the same, and I’ve lost count of the broken bones and skinned up corners of my body, and whenever somebody tells me to give it up I react with exactly the same response.

Keep the faith bro, and watch yer six.

  2. I agree George. I MISS riding so much, its only been 6 months but it feels like forever. Now, am I evil for looking at the pic of your knee and thinking….

I want to see the pic in a day or two…

  3. I am sorry that I missed the call and didn’t see it for an hour. Glad you are in one (ish) piece. Let me know what assistance that you need.

You make me want to wear my moto pants more often…….They may be ugly and hot, but that may not be as big of a deal…….

About how fast were you going?

      1. Good job on listening to the vibes. They seem more important on a bike for some reason, and harder to listen too.

  4. Shit… that’s just the road giving you a kiss; aint nothing to worry about never mind stop riding over.

If the bones aint stickin out, you can ride.

  5. Get up from there, you ain’t hurt.
I agree on leathers, I rode a Harley for years and always freaked when I saw some goober with shorts and boat shoes (or flip-flops)! Even a pair of jeans and some boots will save some skin. Glad your ok, get back on and ride to the Dr.

  6. I’m glad it wasn’t worse. I tucked the from playing in gravel parking lot last year on my supermoto and broke my elbow. I was on an SM though so I would have done $45 worth of damage if I had chosen to fix everything.

There are 2 kinds of riders… Those that have crashed and those that haven’t yet.

  7. Glad you were not hurt seriously. If you had another dizzy spell like a few weeks back GET TO THE DOCTOR to find the cause. Stay safe, and a fast recovery.

  8. Helmet, gloves, long pants, long sleeves at a minimum. Back in the day I knew a squid who departed around a 100 mph. He was in full leather and the road was wet so all he came out with was road rash and bruises. He did it on the week and was limping around at work on Monday. I think the mockery was more painful for him. Replacing helmets is such an expensive pain in the ash. I knocked the lenses out of my glasses one time, if I hadn’t had a helmet on. Just don’t get like me and end up with bunch of bunged up fairing pieces and other bits in the closet someday. Now days the only thing I have left is a thumb joint that hurts during weather changes, and a nasty looking area on a knee.

  9. I completely concur on the wearing of safety equipment. I remember the time I got clipped by an idiot in a Lexus (I almost manged to dodge). As I was traveling down the road watching sparks fly from my bike (and thinking “Oh no! My bike!”), I was saved from worse injury by what I was wearing. After getting up, I noticed that some piece of my bike gouged completely through the leather on my steel toe boots and left a serious gouge in the metal. I would have probably lost a toe or two is not for those boots.

  10. Ogre-San: glad you are OK. If there is something for others to learn from your indicdent, please share some details when you can. In the meantime, take care of those injuries and get back on as soon as you are better. Cheers.

  11. Well, now that you got that crash out of the way you can get down to some serious riding. I hate to hear that you crashed but I’m happy to hear that you are OK. How does your wife feel about the whole situation? The biggest wreck that I had was because of the idiot that I was riding with entered a tight curve too fast, dumped his bike and somehow steered is sliding bike right into my back tire as I was in the middle of my line. There was nothing that I could do except go down and finish the turn in the ditch.

    1. My Bride is very pleased that I am still here.

I’ve gone down for various reasons. A couple chain breaks that locked the rear tire. Too much front brake all the sudden… “Hey, the front brakes are not working – YES THEY ARE!” Gravel. Gravel. Big Ass Truck.

  12. Glad to hear you’re ok. I do anesthesia at a level 1 trauma center in Florida and I can tell you that safety equipment can be the difference between walking away and organ donation. Please do continue to wear your gear (anyone who rides) and always remember the best bike rider is at the mercy of the idiot in the car. Take care out there.

  13. Ride Safe, and never forget that you have to use ALL of your safety gear! Which includes those little nudges your instincts toss in from time to time. (Those little hints have saved my life once or twice over the years.)

  14. Great you’re okay, and that the bike can be fixed. I’d still get a doc to sign off on the knee and the wrist, just to make sure there’s not something inside that’s gonna rear it’s ugly head a few months down the road.

Course, I just had spinal surgery, so I’m paranoid right now. Data (x-rays, MRI, etc.) are your friend.

    1. Cracked bone in the wrist is the worst of internals. Bruised ribs, sprained ankle, some scrapes and a burn mark that matches the radiator…

  15. I noticed. The race version doesnt have lower body protection either. What i really noticed was (on race version and on youtube) was that it seems to make the rider roll more than slide. I see less shoulder injuries and more broken arms.
