There is a shooting competition called Cheapskate. .22 LR’s. I think I’m going to get into this. But I don’t have a rifle for it and there isn’t a .22 rifle that I’m really digging as is.
Looks like I’ll have to CRUSADERIZE a Ruger 10/22.
Tactical Solutions Barrel, Slipstream ST-1 treatment on the bolt and inside the receiver… Oh yeah. I can see it now.
I’ve got a TacSol barrel on mine. The downside is there is no weight at the muzzle. If you go that route, get one of the threaded barrels and hang a brake or something there to help with the wobble.
That is true… I would like a little more weight on it. But they are accurate barrels. If you can hold them steady.

Don’t know how much the barrel your talking about costs, but the stock 10/22 “Tactical” model with heavy barrel, over molded stock, bipod and rail is a pretty good starting point to consider maybe
It is… But id rather not fall back to a Ruger Factory barrel. They remain disappointing to me.
Maybe you could Crusaderize a Ruger 77/22 and create a decent stock for it? Everyone who has one seems to want a nice tactical stock for it–seems like a nice nitch product. I’ve owned three (still have two) of the target models that shoot anything incredibly accurately.
Yes, that was an idea… But I’m wanting a semi.
Ive done the cheapskate with my scout 22. Didn’t do so well the first time because I didn’t know the limits of how the gun was setup. Now that I know I’m ready for the next one. I’ve got the scope set and I think I can compete with my 2x power.
Take a look at the Ruger 10/22 VLEH. Goes for about $400+. I just added Tech-sights for Appleseed shoots. Great bang for the buck.
Dunno if a semi is required for thie “Cheapskate” leaue…but I would take a hard look at the CZ 455….
The cheapskate I did, people had semi-s and bolt actions. George, I added you to the Utah Cheapskate group on FB. Most of those guys hang out at Snipers Hide. I’ll let you know when the next .22 shoot is.
